No, he was not. The pro team he was playing for prior to committing to VCU had amateurs on their team. He basically got room and board, and maybe a small stipend. If he had of been receiving a salary, he would not have been eligible to play at VCU.

Time will tell. It's not a sustainable process. It has been getting more out of control as each year passes. The fans/donors are only going to pay for play to a certain point. And that's when the product on the court becomes too expensive to finance by the fans/donors. It's coming, unless...

FYI. Coach Odom did not recruit Shugla or Bairstow to Utah State. The current coach at Utah did. Odom did recruit Belle and Patrick to VCU, but only one of those made it to fall classes. I would say the jury is still out regarding Coach Odom's ability to recruit international players. And...

But not something you would do in a normal recruiting year.
