Players 2023-24 Roster Thread

Max shot 36% on ~4 attempts last year. Bairstow shot 39% last year but 13% the year before, neither time with as much as 2.5 attempts. Both were good last year, but to me neither provide really robust support for the "we will have no shortage of shooting next year" declaration.
They can shoot though. I know how many they shot. The team will have better shooters. Not much of a stretch to think that though.

Not so sure. We lost Nunn who was >40% on 3 attempts a game, Shriver who was >40% on 4.3 attempts, Ace who was 34% on 3.7 attempts, and Jamir who was 34% on 3 attempts.

I think the whole concept of alphas ranges from overblown to completely ridiculous. The more good players and leaders you have on a team the better. I’ve watch UNC teams win national titles without anyone that would truly be considered an ”alpha.”

BTW, the concept of an alpha in animal society was based on faulty research of wolves and is just pseudo-science that’s made its way into popular culture.
Totally agree. On many teams the best player(s) doesn’t have the right personality to be a captain or leader or alpha. Sometimes the head coach is the dominant personality.

Saw Fats play this morning in the college/pro run. Always heard about his shooting ability, but what surprised me is his above the rim ability. Def had the best dunks of the morning and wasn't afraid to attack the rim.
Do you know a schedule? Is this Ben Wallace or the Henrico college/pro run? I saw video of Fats playing against guys like Grant Golden. I would like to check it out. Fats looks good out there in the video but I want to see some live action.

Rockit is the location and it's Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30am. The list of guys is always changing based on who is in town....Fats is on the list tomorrow, but that doesn't always mean he will show up.

No way..prove it.
Look up the boxscore of the game. Compare their stats to each other and to their senior stats. And take into account that this was a triple overtime game and Wilt was held below his season averages for points and rebounds. What Lennie did against Wilt is why UNC won that game and the national title in 1957.

I also have the full game on DVD and have watched it several times.

I hardly call allowing wilt 23 points and 14 rebounds in a game that only went to 57 points a "standstill".

Wilt got his..

Wilt averaged 30 points and 19 rebounds a game that season. He averaged 10 made shots a game and only made 6 in that game. The game went 3 overtimes, so almost an extra half of basketball was played and Wilt was still well under his season averages. Lennie scored 20 points, so almost the same as Wilt. Yes, it was a standstill.

I know you’re a Wilt fanboy, but you don’t have to defend him on everything.

They played stall ball to keep the score low. They didn't play him straight up.

Rosenbluth fouled out late in regulation. There was definitely some stalling on offense, particularly in OT. The first OT period was 2-2, and the second was scoreless. UNC won with two FTs in the end. Rosenbluth outscored Chamberlain but he was a spectator when the game was decided. Wilt won MOP for the tournament, plus he hooked up with a couple of poodle-skirted coeds after the game.
