How are you feeling right now about the team and program?

Y’all don’t think VCU makes money off of his basketball program? That final four run changed enrollment for VCU. I think it added like a 2.5% increase in admissions which is like millions of dollars not to mention the national exposure. Enrollment is what makes the money and having a good basketball program does help with that. At the end of the day colleges are a business, they wouldn’t invest so much and their basketball program if it didn’t benefit them.

That, and it’s a rallying point for alumni engagement and giving.

Yeah selling tickets is a pretty small part of it. The average person who has heard of VCU has probably either heard about it for basketball, art or medical. People are making money off of this program lol.

Or had the displeasure of working with me at some point as it gets brought up in every conversation between November and April.

The national exposure is extremely targeted. You are reaching the same slice of people, most that already heard of us. If you were gifted $5 million to spend on ads, you would likely spread it over a wider swath (to include arts, STEM students, techies...) But it does have value.
Good point on enrollment though. When the MBB team does well, enrollment spikes. And if there was no team at all, I believe it would see a double digit decline within a few years.

Yep, when M. Vick took the Hokies to the national championship VT allegedly saw about a 35% increase admissions requests.

And the The Brand Center. One of THE best in the country.

If this is what a rebuilding year after a mass exodus of players and new coach looks like -I will gladly take it.
Well let’s pump the sunshine up the skirt brakes just a bit. I’m definitely happy with how it’s turning out right now.

This was a chaotic season with lots of ups and downs that tried one’s patience .

They ended up much better than I thought they’d do. But getting there sucked at times.

The future however looks awful rosy, and the next few days could be fun.

I was already pleased with the season result so I felt like we were playing with house money against Villanova. First game all season that I felt like I wasn’t nerve wracked about hanging on the edge when things were close. Glad we get to cheer the guys on more and looking forward to big things!
