The Official Beat the Utah Utes in Salt Lake City in the NIT Quarterfinals Thread

I've been told that when we win at Utah, our band can go to the semifinals and Championship. Hope this is true. Fingers crossed.

Yea, I noticed the Bearcats band and cheerleaders at that game...definitely helped add to an already raucous atmosphere....Indiana St is really havin' a moment these last couple years under Schertz

Indiana State beats Cincy 85-81 in a good game at Terre Haute. The Bearcats brought their band on the road, wish we had done that at Villanova.

Any discussion about Indiana State should include coach Johnny Wooden .... before leaving for UCLA, Coach Wooden was key to a critical moment in NCAA/NAIA history.

Nah it’s Elite 8. NIT elite 8 a place we have never been as a program.

Those games have been played and not all the teams deserved entry into the Dance. We are still playing and they are not.
I could have sworn I've seen a NIT banner hanging in the Stu, but I looked it up and apparently not. Maybe I'm thinking of the CBI championship with Shaka or it was another sport (volleyball?).

Regardless, I discovered we actually HAVE made it this far in the NIT before, moving through Marshall and Southern Miss before losing to UConn 69-60 in 1988 under Mike Pollio

VCU removed the NIT banners when they redesigned the NCAA banners inside the Siegel Center.

Phil Stinnie! It was my senior year.

The Huntsman center gameday atmosphere is generally one step above a dirge - the complete opposite to their FB games. I'm curious if anyone will even show up a la Villanova or if there's any excitement around this game like USF.
Craig Smith is a high energy person that could excite a bowl of raisins back into grapes, but he has yet to revive Utah basketball in terms of having a quality product on the court and fan interest in the program. I can't imagine this gets any easier moving from the Pac12 to The Big12 next season.

Can't wait to see what he can do at SLU.

OK....just looked the SLU coaching search up. Sounds like SLU or Louisville(?)

He's "only" making $365,000 at Indiana State.....and we ALL know that SLU likes to pay for coaches

Heck, I'm down with anything that makes the A10 better...especially considering how SLU/Davidson/Rhody/UMass all pretty much biffed their hires
