100% lateral move at best. The only teams left worth getting excited about playing consistently would be Memphis (who desperately wants out), Temple, and WSU. FAU is likely going to end up like Loyola Chicago and become irrelevant soon enough.

To me, their additions aren’t about stabilizing the conference today. It’s about stabilizing the conference for a future date in anticipation that other teams get poached.

This consolidation of conferences to create mega ones will last for maybe 15-20 years, then they'll all decide to split up again into smaller conference so that each member has a better chance of winning conference championships. That's my take.

If I'm the PAC-12, I am going hard after Texas Tech, Baylor, and SDSU. Losing Colorado isn't a big deal and I imagine Oregon and Washington would be enticed to stay if that happened. I think the PAC-12 is still the better option for B12 schools to go to rather than the other way around.

Our core group returning isn't enough to win the OCC gauntlet we have on the schedule for 2023. With Johns leaving, we need someone at or beyond is level of play to win those games.
