The 2010 NCAA Tournament started with an upset as the #11 Old Dominion Monarchs stunned the #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 51-50 in South Region action on Thursday.

While Frank Hassell was the story for Old Dominion, scoring 15 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, the story of the game was the absence of Irish center Luke Harangody who played 23 minutes but put just 4 points on the board after shooting 2-9 from the field.

Old Dominion will now face the winner of the Baylor-Sam Houston St. matchup.

may the entire Big east crap the bed....right now Ohio ( a #9 seed inthe MAC) is beating Georgetown by 16 in the 2nd half...Villanova lucked out in OT...may the trend continue

Like VCU has dominated A-10 teams we've played [3], the Big is not going to want anything more to do with ODU [Georgetown & Notre Dame]. Remember when GMU toasted a great UCON team on their final 4 run? Way to go Monarchs!

Also, gotta love Monarch fans [I'm swallowing hard] with their end of game chant:

After the buzzer sounded, the Old Dominion fans began chanting "C-A-A'' — a reference to the Colonial Athletic Association, the Monarchs' league. Old Dominion wasn't the least bit intimidated by its Big East opponent...
