VCU Athletics recently commandeered Greg Burton's show from 4-6 p.m. today and talked about VCU for the better part of 2 hours .

Shaka Smart joined Mike Ellis and Robby Robinson, the voice of the VCU Rams met up at Hometeam Grill talked about Larry Sanders, thoughts on NCAA expansion at 4:15.

Norwood Teague talking about the NCAA Sanctions at USC, at 4:45

Billy McKinney (Milwaukee Bucks' Director of Scouting) on why they went with Larry Sanders at 5:00.

New VCU Soccer Coach Dave Giffard talks soccer, specifically USA vs. Ghana soccer in the World cup at 5:15.

Hermie Sadler broke down the Nascar race this weekend at 5:45, who also will be one of the guys along with John Rollins headlining the CapTech Drive Weekend along with several celebrities like former VCU assistant Tubby Smith and Xavier Head Coach Chris Mack in addition to 11 PGA tour guys.

Why am I telling you all this? Well if you missed it, it's all stored online at ESPN950am.com

Shaka on recruits:

Juvonte Reddic, Reco McCarter, Rob Brandenberg, and DJ Haley have been in Richmond for 2 weeks, spending quite a bit of time with Coach Roose, taking classes, and working on their games in pickups with teammates. Toby is finishing up a summer course and should be in in the next few weeks. He also threw out a teaser: "You never know Rob, we may even have another guy coming in. We're always recruiting." :) I won't say anything about that, but there is a possibility we will be able to add another recruit to the class in the coming week. Keep your fingers crossed.

Interesting. Since you say "keep your fingers crossed" I am assuming the player is pretty special or has some real potential.

McKinney indicated there were two other teams trying to move up to get Larry but did not mention their names. I can't wait to see the Jennings/Larry fast break.

You could say that. I think you'll like it when you hear it.

You ever think they just say that stuff because they want to keep people's interest up? Shaka doesnt seem like that type of guy but sometimes it certainly does seem like they want to tease you with some knowledge and who knows if the teaser just goes away or is legit.....

Districtballer, what would you say is the % likelyhood we'll be adding someone soon, as Shaka implied?

This is true in many cases too. Usually it does mean something is going on, but it also gives a lot of ambiguity that presents little threat should whatever is happening behind the scenes not work out. If it happens, everyone will be like "OHHHH that's what he's talking about." If not, it's so vague that no one will really remember it or it will go away quickly. It's a nice way to give out hints to fans while covering yourself in the event what you're talking about doesn't pan out. I think it's nice that Shaka throws those out though! It gives people an incentive to listen in.
