Just wondering if anyone is looking to discuss baseball, now that we are about a week into the season...

We'll discuss baseball. I want to follow the Rams. But there was a basketball season.

Thought I'd try to get this thread going again...

Any baseball fans want to comment on the first week or so of the season? I can see that I will be in for a long summer -- my Mets definitely have issues. I will be happy if they don't finish last.

Go Nats!!!!!!!!!!!! They look alright so far... they need to get their offense together though. Pitching, for the most part, has been pretty darn solid. Can't wait to get Zimm back. Colin Balester and Henry Rodriguez are in the wings and will be up soon. I like the team this year. Next year we could be pretty legit.
Right Ghost?

VCU Alum, Brandon Inge hit the game winning home run last night over Texas in the bottom of the ninth on the first pitch thrown.

A lot of potential for the Nats. I think pitching will be their strength, especially when Strasberg returns. I like their young players -- Desomond and Espinosa look good so far.

The one thing I can't stand is the Nats give the Mets fits!

Oh yeah having fun so far in the season. Royals off to a quick 10-5 start. Young players buying into the system, and finally Alex Gordon has started the season off quickly leading the league in hits, third in batting (373), and tied for 6th in RBIs with 11.

How's Jeff Francoeur doing? Found him to be a very frustrating player when he was with the Mets.

Playing well, I mean he's not going to be anything like a Pujols, Longoria, Pedroia, etc. but he's off to a good start and his success will be vital come the dog days of summer(Batting .328).

Long, long game watching UVA beat VCU yesterday. I see why UVA is in first place.

I'm not at all surprised that my Phils are 21-9 even with an anemic offense (by our standards)

Our SP's have been FILTHY and I love how Vance Worley has filled in for Blanton. Also have new, fresh arms like Mike Stutes and Antonio Bastardo (who WOULDN'T want a Bastardo jersey??) in the bullpen so retreads like Danys Baez and the like can mercifully go away.

If Utley can come back 80% or better....it'll do wonders for our lineup

I have no doubt that the grind of the season will wear down the Marlins and Braves.

as for Liriano...seemed like a smart move to sit him on by fantasy bench with his 9+ERA prior to his no-no.....baseball can be a weird game. I'm also paying a HUGE price for taking a chance on Morneau.....FANTASY DEATH!!!!!
