Looks like we will be playing some good teams!

RICHMOND, Va. – While the Virginia Commonwealth University men's basketball team is preparing to open its 2010-11 campaign on Friday against UNC Greensboro, the Rams already have part of next season's schedule locked down.

ESPN released the eight-team field for the fourth annual Charleston Classic, which is set to be held Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 17, 18 & 20 at Carolina First Arena in Charleston, S.C.

Along with the Black & Gold, the 2011 field includes Georgia Tech from the ACC, LSU from the SEC, Saint Joseph's from the Atlantic 10, Seton Hall from the Big East, Tulsa from Conference USA, Western Kentucky from the Sun Belt and Baylor from the Big 12.

Five of the eight teams reached the 2010 postseason: Baylor and Georgia Tech played in the NCAA Championship, while Seton Hall and Tulsa earned National Invitation Tournament berth to go along with the Rams' journey to the CBI Championship last year.

The 2011 Charleston Classic, a bracket-format tournament, will feature 12 games over the three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will face off in a championship match Sunday, Nov. 20.

Atlantic Coast Conference teams won the first two Charleston Classics, with Miami (Fla.) winning in 2009 and Clemson taking the title in the inaugural tournament in 2008.

This family-friendly tournament offers the teams a week of practice, play and experiences in-and-around historic Charleston. Additional information, including travel packages, can be found on the Charleston Classic Web site at www.charlestonclassic.com.

The Charleston Classic is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN.

Good stuff. Would love to take on Baylor or Georgia Tech. Most teams are good in it.

So you are only guaranteed to play 1 game? Lose and go home? Not how most in-season tournaments like this are run is it??

It says that each team will play one game each day for 3 days :) ... I would love to see GA Tech vs VCU.

Sounds like its time to set some 2011 Vacation plans!

also sounds like 3 guaranteed ESPN games.

Ya next year we definitely get Bama on the road and I think we also have South Florida at home

I have been vocal about needing to be more aggressive in our OOC scheduling, so I must say well done on joining this exellent tournament. Great field of good teams from strong conferences and a wonderful neutral court location, with reasonable driving distance for Ram fans.

Fantastic games--I hope can attned in person. It's also a great city to visit--food, settings is first class.
