According to ESPN, we've offered Jordan Laguerre recently. He's a 6'1 PG, rated at 90 from ESPN.

Scout has him listed as a 2010 recruit though, weird.

Six-foot-one guard Jordan Laguerre is the team's most talented junior. The New Hampshire native just picked up his most recent scholarship offer from VCU. He holds additional offers from Northeastern and Rhode Island while a number of high major schools are following his progress. "I think he's really going to blow up this summer when he's let loose a little bit," Hutchins said.

Re: Another 2010 Scholarship Offer?? Jordan Laguerre

It will not be the last.... just sayin....

could be a redshirt straight out the box...gives him a year to gain some strength and experience DI level practices

Smart was apparently on campus yesterday to watch Jordan. Gonzaga and Rhode Island sent assistants to watch him as well.

I like that we sent our head coach while Gonzaga and Rhode Island sent assistants. That's got to count for something I would think.

Obviously our top priority is probably a point guard with Joey leaving next year. We have 3 scholarships to give in 2011 (Kasey Wilson has the first spot already) now that Larry is leaving early, although I suspect our staff had anticipated this before the season even started. With 2 SG's (Brandon, Ed) our starting PG (Joey), and our main senior PF (Jamie) graduating, we should see some diversity in the players we offer.

I assume the 2011-2012 lineup would look something like this (barring a 4/5-star guy committing):

PG: Darius Theus (Jr.)/Issiah Grayson (Jr.)
SG: Troy Daniels (Jr.)/Rob Brandenberg (So.)
SF: Brad Burgess (Sr.)/Reco McCarter (So.)
PF: Toby Veal (Sr.)/Kasey Wilson (Fr.)
C: DJ Haley (So.)/Juvonte Reddic (So.)

+3 more recruits for the 2011 class. Lots of room to offer at any position really. We've seen what Shaka can do with a full recruiting cycle and the results have been EXCELLENT. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with even more time to develop relationships with the 2011 guys (as we have seen with Wilson, he's been recruiting 2011 for awhile now).

I don't know DB, the way Will Wade has been going lately maybe he was the guy who should've gone to see him. ;)

Jordan Laguerre Gets Another Divsision 1 Offer

Junior Mass Rivals and New Hampton Prep guard Jordan Laguerre has just received an offer from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). VCU is in the Colonial Conference and have made several March Madness appearances and are considered one of top Mid-Major teams in the country. VCU is often talked about for their upset of Duke in the first round of the tournament in 2006.

Laguerre is one of the most talented players in New England and is midway through his junior year at New Hampton Prep. Laguerre is a super athlete who has many gears beyond fast and can finish with the best of them around the basket. Laguerre can also knock down shots from deep and can lock up top players on oppossing teams. The best part of Laguerre's game is that he plays hard all the tiime and plays with a purpose.

sounds exactly like the type of players Shaka has been recruiting.

Jordan Laguerre, Mass Rivals, 2011: He gave Jabari Hinds (Mount Vernon, NY) fits on the defensive end, beating him to the spot and causing him all sorts of problems. Offensively he got to the rim and made all kinds of finishes while also creating space with his step-back in the mid-range area.

Looking at video clips, this guy IS fast. He is pretty explosive going to the hoop and looks like a proficient 3-point shooter. He's #24 in both clips.

In the 2009 NHIAA Class L State Championship, Laguerre's Trinity team doubled up on Memorial in the championship game by a score of 50-25. Laguerre outscored the entire Memorial team by himself with a 26 point performance. He shows his considerable speed and outside shooting in this video clip with highlights from the game. He can really take it to the hoop!

We can really use this guy! He moves like Theus going to the rack, but with a better outside shot and he looks faster.

According to the same site which does excellent work covering new england has listed laguerre as the 9th best prospect in New England for '11

Doesn't this have Will Wade's fingerprints on it? With Shaka these two are making for a dynamite recruiting combo. I'm sure the whole staff is involved, but it sure seems we're covering sea-to-shining-sea to find these talented yet somewhat undercover recruits. We are now starting to recruit like the mid-MAJOR we want to be on-going.

Question:
With Sander's and Saintil's recent announcements, is anyone a little puzzled [like me] that Grayson didn't get a little more PT in some fashion this past year and/or a red shirt year? I realize my speculative question is completely hindsight, and I have faith in staff. I'm just curious as to any insight coaches may have for Grayson's development, etc.
