2023-24 NET rankings and metrics thread

Y'all do know the committee considers injuries and absences. If Sean and Bam come back and we end up something like 16-2 in conference play, we'll be in the discussion.
Agreed, but even with that I'd be more comfortable hoisting the trophy at the end of the A10 tourney.

Well, the Temple game will determine whether we go 8-5 or 7-6 in the non-conference. The three worst teams in our OOC are Alcorn State, UMES and Gardner-Webb, so I figured 3-0 on those games. Beat Temple, finish 8-5 in the OOC and 16-2 in conference, gets you to 24-7. It depends on other schools around the country, but go 24-7 and get to the A-10 Final and we could be in the conversation. That being said, I don't see us going 16-2 against what is a better A-10 this year than last year. Anything can happen, and I'm hoping that yesterday was the start of a 25 game winning streak through the end of the A-10 Tournament in Brooklyn. This team is close to being really very good, but they need to learn to win the close games against good competition.

So, our wins are against 132, 137, 143, 186, and 325... losses to 8, 40, 41, 113, and 168. We have 149, 202 and 336 (ugh!) left in the OOC.
Our best hopes for good wins are definitely road games in conference now. And that's not favorable for us, at Dayton, GMU, maybe UR (not counting on those last two) could be our only Q1 chances now. Not totally discounting our at large yet, but the chance isn't very good. Let's go win the A10 tourney!

Some of you guys worry too much about the final destination and fail to enjoy the ride.

Like you said (a point a lot of people ignore) there are other schools in the country doing this same exercise and the resumes of the teams you're competing against on the bubble is different every year. Being in the conversation could be a 5 second discussion: "nice record, too many bad losses, next."

Just as a random observation: thanks to the court ruling preventing the NCAA from enforcing the transfer rules, UNLV demolished Creighton last night and jumped 64 spots in the NET. I'm pretty sure this is the largest one-day increase ever.

Just to be clear:
Keylan in his first game - 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 0 turnovers, 1 block, 1 steal.
Kalib not in his first game - 25 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 turnovers, 0 blocks, 4 steals.

I still predict we own the A10 this year. 17-1. We are right on the verge of putting it all together. I can feel it in my bones 🦴

FYI. VCU is not the only A-10 school that may be adding players to their active roster. This will be happening at a lot of schools.

IF we go on a big run in A10 it will create national discussion because the A10 is much better this year than last (at least to date) and our run will include 2 players not involved in our early season bad losses, Bairstow and Bam. I still think we’ll need to win conf tournament but really like our potential trend and possibly becoming more relevant nationally again. I think fans eye test of this team will be very different by mid conference! Let’s enjoy the ride—go Rams!

VCU player and VA AG showing up with 6 other AGs against the NCAA, I don't think VCU will be getting any love from the NCAA over the next few years as it applies to at-large consideration.
