I figured it was the easy availability of transfers. So, a kid commits to a school as a freshman months or even a year before his high school graduation. Then, the school brings in new transfers to fill up the roster, as we know schools are going to have to do every year. The freshman player then learns, after seeing the makeup of the team, that he’ll be fourth string. BOOM … decommit.
I swear I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth bothering with freshmen anymore unless they’re five star players. Let someone else develop them, and then bring them in as juniors when they decide to transfer. The way things are looking for VCU, it’s possible we only have one freshman this year, and he’s a redshirt freshman.
