2024-25 Opponent Tracking

boy what I thought would be a great tournament for VCU with some Tier 1 opportunities has seen the 4 teams besides VCU identified all lose most of their best players to either graduation or the portal (two having coaching changes and we know that means most of the existing roster leaves) FAU and Seton Hall seem to have taken biggest hits in losing players in the portal

doubt we see a Tier 1 game here but mostly Tier 2s and 3s

like the addition of Nevada though they lose top two scorers (graduation) from 23-24 team but Coach Alford finds ways to have competitve team

at one time I thought texas a&m was on board to play in Charleston Classic (does anyone know what happened there?)

Still one of the better MTEs just a step below Maui, Atlantis ....

Yeah A&M joined the NIL classic in Vegas.

Not related at all to basketball, but UR is going to announce that it's switching football conferences from the CAA to the Patriot. I've said for years that the basketball team should be in the Patriot.

Ouch. That's a big blow to the CAA, which has taken a nosedive since JMU left for the Sun Belt.

I wonder if this means UR's athletic department is hurting financially, considering the Patriot has smaller scholarship limits.

I think the final nail in the CAA football coffin was when Delaware went to the C-USA

You need to read the article. It states the following:

"Patriot League members began awarding football scholarships in 2013 and are allowed to give the FCS maximum of 63 scholarships."

Also - FYI. Delaware is leaving the CAA for C-USA as they move up to the FBS level in football.

The 64k question- Are Penn st and VCU going to start a H and H?
I'd be willing to bet Rhoades and Odom are going to put that off until next year. After the whooping we gave them last season, Rhoades may be asking for the school to just pay VCU off.

A reminder that every time we've had a coach leave, everybody on this board was convinced the other school would pay the buyout, that the other coach would be "too scared" or "too embarrassed" to play the game, and we've played every game, except for one that was canceled by COVID.

"Canceled by COVID"

It must be put in quotation marks. Slick Willie Wade and LSU found a way to weasel out of the return game without paying.

Wuhan Willy
Will Wade created COVID-19 and unleashed it upon the world because he didn't want to lose to VCU again. It all makes sense now!

I'd be willing to bet PSU buys their way out of the commitment. (for your, @rollins77 )

I’d be willing to bet MR lets Ace and Nick graduate before playing but ultimately ends up playing
I don't think those 2 would object to playing here, but I don't know them. And I think they'd both be warmly received. The coach not so much.

Also, do you think both will graduate? Either?
