2024-25 Opponent Tracking

I just looked at Dayton's OOC schedule and wow is it fantastic. Really makes me question the whole "no one wants to play us" narrative outside of early season tournaments.

Northwestern at home
#12 UNC neutral
#5 Iowa State neutral
#2 UCONN neutral
#10 Marquette at home
UNLV at home
@ #16 Cincinnati

Now why can't we get a schedule like this?

So……let’s eliminate Maui.
That leaves 4 games

  • NW @ home
  • Marquette @ home
  • UNLV @ home
  • @ Cincy
UNLV(Day) & CSU(VCU) are pretty much a wash although the metrics look more favorable on the neutral site game.
New Mexico(VCU) on the road and NW(Day) at home are again a wash in the metri

So really we are looking at two games
Cincy, a team that has come to the Stu is about an hour from Dayton. That would be like us playing UVA which again has happened
Marquette is a good game but at first glance, the best case scenario would have been the friars but they already have two A10 teams on the schedule this year.
I believe the staff is doing everything reasonable to schedule good games

And when he does bail think about this...he had the advantage of getting Texas and LSU series yet barely took advantage of either when it came to capitalizing on SOS. The LSU win put the team in the Top 25 but then they fell on their faces. He will choose to have his school pay $$$ instead of helping VCU.
Maybe it is because we already played them 5 games after he left and beat them but I don't really care if we ever play Penn State again. I do agree that he will probably try to take the cowards way out however. I also kind of like that VCU and Penn State split 2 games in a 5 year timespan and Rhoades managed to lose them both.
