2024-25 Opponent Tracking

According to the NYT, Steph Curry, is now the assistant GM for Davidson.

Is it weird that this has me worried? I mean Steph has enough money to fund their NIL program by himself...and players may be attracted to join Davidson now that Steph is the A/GM.

Davidson like the rest of us will be limited to 15 players and honestly, how many players have gone to Davidson that you can say, I wish VCU had that guy. 5 maybe? They play a much different style than VCU so I never worry about Davidson getting a bunch of players that would be VCU candidates. That’s just me. Now…they may be able to build a St Mary’s lite type team and be super competitive in the A10 which would be good for the conference

I think the most surprising thing to me is that Davidson has a GM. Is that in the cards for us? I think someone like a GM is going to be necessary going forward with the state of college basketball.

I wouldn't sweat it too much, they still have Matt McKillop as their head coach....

I kinda like the move, honestly....I'm a "rising tide lifts all boats" kinda guy and the A10 needs a TON of help outside the usual 5 or 6 schools who seem to lift the most weight.

Plus , they have no graduate program. So the max is 4 years unless the NCAA eventually changes it to 5.

There may be some wild West land grab Al Swearengen GM type stuff for a little while, but it doesn't seem like it will be sustainable for long. Eventually they'll either have to establish general order, or the whole thing goes bust. A few boom-to-ghost towns likely either way.

Unfortunately, the Acrisure Series looks extremely weak so far - the other teams that have been announced are San Diego (not UC San Diego), Nevada, and California Baptist.

I was curious so I looked up Acrisure. It's a financial tech and insurance agency that was created by some already rich guys to buy up other companies. 60% of it's growth has been accomplished through acquisition.

It is VERY weird that you are worried. Davidson still has to follow their academic rules when recruiting players. I imagine they will be better than the last 3 years, but not any better than 2014-2022 Davidson.

We took your mojo lead and watched Hoosiers last night right after you posted, seriously I've not finished it before. But our night before games mojo is a Creed or Rocky movie and Kat says you have to watch one of those tonight or at the latest, Thursday night.

darn this CAA Delaware team is gritty A F !!! I like the A10, but man I dig some old school CAA ball.
