2024-25 Roster Thread

Here we go again. Same format as last year. Hopefully with a little less action the first week. Not making any assumptions about who may be returning until they have either indicated that they are coming back or the portal closes on May 1st. I will edit this post daily if things are changing to keep the most recent info at the top. With that being said let's have a great off season and put together a roster that can win the A10!

The coaches and the program will let everyone know soon. If it is the case Joe Bam will start and there will be a heavy helping of Billups and Belle with Hill and Jennings getting time.

The good news is that if Zeb actually is hurt, we have so much backcourt depth that I think we can make up for it.

That would certainly (and unfortunately) settle the "will Russell or Bam start?" debate.

Phil GETS it. He understands those who are taking time to sacrifice to get their butts in those seats are there to participate in the game they're watching. Dude competes and is having the time of his life, and that's what we're there to see and cheer on at The Stu.

He had lots of great moments last night. He engaged the crowd several times. He even made the ref laugh after a loose ball when he struck a pose pointing VCU’s direction after the ball went out of bounds.

Phil had me ready to run through a brick wall, I can only imagine how his actual teammates feel with him around. There shouldn't be any lack of intensity this year, even Max was getting active on defense where last year we saw him take some plays off on that end.
Odom mentioned in a preseason podcast that Russell had earned starter status. VCU will not start slow with that guy getting things going from the tip. He does not hesitate to shoot and he looks to pass. Bam talked about him in the postgame presser. They all love having him. He is a wild man.

Really REALLY wish we had him for more than one season.

In the Bellarmine broadcast with 7:30 remaining where VCU is up 15, Sean asks the Chef about what is impressing him most about this team this year, he responds after saying "VCU has the guards to get there (to the final four) so they've gotta take care of business one step at a time", is asked "what has impressed you about the back court with VCU?"
He responds with the kind of VCU experience we all know, "Their unselfishness" for sure, the chemistry they show early, I mean hitting shots is impressive, but passing up shots to get better ones even when you're up on a team... is more impressive to me."

Haha he got me with this too, just standing there pointing our direction even after they called the possession the opposite way
