2024-25 Roster Thread

Here we go again. Same format as last year. Hopefully with a little less action the first week. Not making any assumptions about who may be returning until they have either indicated that they are coming back or the portal closes on May 1st. I will edit this post daily if things are changing to keep the most recent info at the top. With that being said let's have a great off season and put together a roster that can win the A10!

And if collectives are still a thing, the pool of NIL could be over $5 mil as well right? I have no clue, but some others on the forum do I am sure.
It could be. The $5 million mentioned is just what's coming from VCU itself. Anything the collective has would definitely contribute more.

He’s a natural talent. You don’t have to teach him coordination or timing. With more experience, coaching and strength, he can become a total force in the A10. I’m sure every P5 poacher is already greedily paying attention to Luke.

He will probably be one of our highest paid players next year

An amount less than $384,000 because all those viral stories from two weeks ago that DL has only just discovered for some reason neglect to mention that the $4-5 million being spent to pay players covers *all* sports, not just men's basketball. Considering that the baseball team has a limit of 34 scholarship players, that $4-5 million's going to be split a lot of ways, even if baseball players don't get paid as much as men's basketball players.

In addition, there was just guidance released indicating that payments to players have to confirm to Title IX, so female athletes will have to be paid a reasonable amount as well.
Spot on plus not every player will be paid the exact same amount

Hopefully Jennings is back regardless. Not that I'm wishing Odom leaves. But there's always that possibility. Hopefully Jennings & his family are here to stay.
The good news is the Jennings family has extremely solid RVA ties. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but if he continues playing well, I really don't see him going anywhere, even if Odom leaves.

I just think it would be tough to turn down a spot down I-64 west if it's offered. I hope I'm wrong, and truly hope it's not even an issue to worry about in the end.

That is a good thing but I would think that if he did leave he would really go after Jennings. Plus he knows exactly what he is getting here to make his offer to him. It would probably all be a done deal before we even had a new coach. I think the days of losing a coach and retaining any more than 2 or 3 players are over. It would likely be another fresh start. Hopefully it will not even be an issue but history tells us that it will be at some point. I just try not to get too attached or look too far ahead.

He certainly looks as if he has turned a corner. His blocks are what folks rave about, and metrics dont tell the story about one on one D.

Earlier this year he was being exposed by bigs with good footwork. Yesterday, (I know the UR bigs weren’t solid), he protected the basket with more than his jumping and blocking ability.
