2024-25 Roster Thread

Here we go again. Same format as last year. Hopefully with a little less action the first week. Not making any assumptions about who may be returning until they have either indicated that they are coming back or the portal closes on May 1st. I will edit this post daily if things are changing to keep the most recent info at the top. With that being said let's have a great off season and put together a roster that can win the A10!

Odom passed on him last year and wasn't offering him a starting role this year. If the choice is back up Ferm or back up whomever they have at MSU then I don't see anything wrong with wanting to give the Big 10 a shot.

Because of this, I see red flags about the coach's ability to land decent bigs. Odom knew what Zapala was capable of, and if it wasn't needed last year, it certainly won't help this year.

We will get someone better. He averaged 9 and 5 at Longwood.

Not all that stout
that was in like 16 mpg. Of course it raises the question why he only played 16 mpg.

I am not sorry to see us miss on this kid, who was a weird recruit from the beginning. But we still have work to do and the raw materials are getting more scarce every day

Zapala officially off the board.

That's gonna buy a TON of pierogies....

One thing I do bring over from following a pro football team is that signing impactful free agents doesn't happen on a predictable schedule, and never plays out fullly in public. RO and staff have got this.

Yeah, I'm not worried either. Checking Torvik's transfer portal tracker, there's plenty of strong CF/center players left in the portal including a good number of elite rebounders. Sure, a number of them are at low-majors but that doesn't necessarily mean anything (see Korey Billbury coming from Oral Roberts during Wade's first season). We'll find our guy.

Or the ability to land not so decent bigs in this market.

This is even more concerning.
has Odom ever landed a big? of a quality that competes for conference all conference laurels or are they more just the serviceable bigs?

to me it seems his offense is so perimeter oriented that bigs have questions about will they be an integral part of the O but I have a real short window of experience watching Odom's teams

you bring a perspective of seeing his USU teams

I wouldn't say he can't recruit bigs. He recruited two impactful ones to UMBC, and they followed him to Utah State:

- 6'10" F/C Brandon Horvath (UMBC and Utah State): 13.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists per game in senior year

- 6'9" F Daniel Akin (UMBC, Cal Baptist, and Utah State): 12.0 points, 6.8 rebounds per game in senior year, mostly off bench
