It's at least a theory Mike chose Penn State and Penn State of the powerful Big 10 selected him due to him growing up and being a star athlete and popular figure in that general area. Kind of like Odom at Virginia.

As for the home-and-home arrangement, has Mike made the decision not to come to Richmond, or has the administration made the call? Is Mike important enough at mighty Penn State to have the final word in something like that?

Mike's overall record as head coach is 414-227 and that's not counting outstanding records as an assistant at RMC and VCU.

Maybe great, maybe not. Depends on how you look at it.

Depends what he ends up with long term. Short.term def made more money going to Penn State. If he is only there for the length of his 1 contract and no new head cosching job versus staying at vcu for 15 years (God help us) I would assume he gets less.

He was definitely smart enough to know his limitations as a coach and take a big money guaranteed contract when the opportunity presented itself. It is the last one he will ever get. He must have a great agent.

Wasn't a long term play but when they are offering you enough money to retire on you take it I guess. He will be remembered as a guy that coached a lot of games at various programs but won't be celebrated by any of them.
