2025-26 Roster Thread

I mean, who would you cut from this team then? I feel like the people who aren’t contributing still have a lot of skill. I mean Ward was a 5 star who led the SEC in 3 pointers and he is currently riding the bench.
Just like any job..keep the ones producing…cut the ones not contributing. It’s about production. Potential is another word for not doing it.
I will let you decide who you think fits the bill.
Fermin’s spot is wide open for sure.

And some posters on these boards thought New Mexico didn't have a chance against VCU this year. How did that work out?
I guess they hired a better coach than VCU did (lol). (and they got a good coach from UC San Diego and they also say they spend as much as VCU in Revenue sharing/ NIL

neither did the bettors believe VCU was going to lose

but we both know that anytime teams in the top 100 (or maybe between top 20 and top 125) can beat another team in that range

Have a merry christmas (I always enjoy your posts whether we agree or not)

This break would be a good time to reassess the roster. Cut the players that are at the end of the bench and look for a mid season replacements. Fermins spot could be filled by a G league player or an international player. Have immediate impact on the conference season.
Baylor has the right idea. Just signed a 7 ft NBA draftee 25 year old man with immediate eligibility

They are playing chess..we are playing checkers

VCU is a ton of practices and 13 games into the season. The bus is about to leave the station with Ward on it.

Interesting comments regarding picking up players now (mid-season). Lots of moving parts but I’d love to find the money and bring in another big.
I also think we should go-slow regarding conclusions on players who are performing below our preseason expectations, such as Ward, for one example. Skipping a year of competition takes a toll, and then there’s new team, coaching system and shooting confidence. For those with short memories, last year Clark’s OOC performace, particularly his outside shooting, was so bad I cringed when RO put him. RO had few options. VCU was basically running a stretch O without a legit 4/5 stretch threat. Clark turned the corner with his shooting touch/confidence after OOC play and was an integral part of our conf title run. Ward may need this entire year.
If we had another inside scoring threat to complement Lazar, Evans/Belle, it would be worth the money bringing them on. Dancing this year remains a 50/50 proposition at best. If we are hoping our OOC play will ring the bell, we’ll likely be disappointed after the A10 tournament. Our best insurance policy is depth at the 5.

Baylor drives another nail in the coffin of college basketball. It is the Wild West out there as college basketball heads toward becoming another NBA G-League with the Big Boy programs shutting out the non-power programs.
Yes. We must decide if we want to compete or pretend. Money is what separates programs. It’s just more blatant now. I don’t like it but unless Congress gets involved only the calendar changes.

It's clear to me, VCU does "want to compete."

The Rams play only a small handful of teams each season that are better financed, and then just marginally.

Simply based on salaries/NIL/total budget, VCU should go about 25-6 each regular season. It's practically a lock.

You want more?

So, what happened with Fermin? Did he just not work out on the team? Because it feels like we really could use his body and length as the season wears on... :/
