2025-26 Roster Thread

Class of 2023 Lazar Djokovic was one of the best players in Debrecen and improved his stock immensely at the World Cup.A versatile forward at 6'10, was able to do a ton for Serbia. Can score as a floor spacer, shooting from outside or getting to the rim, on cuts, post ups and in transition. Has good verticality and finishes above defenders. Has the ability to park his man under the rim before going up. Shot well from 3 and has show real development on that are, despite there still being things to work. Willing passer, was able to find teammates in different situations, especially from the perimeter on cuts or in transition. Goes after rebounds from the perimeter, has the size, grit and anticipation to come away with offensive boards.Covered a lot of ground defensively and never stopped running. Has great mobility and fluidity for his size and doesn't take a play off. Had some trouble on closeouts, letting his man go by and some situations where he over helped and left a shooter open. Comes from the help side to deny penetrations and force bad shots. Really good at fronting post players and come away with steals. Rebounded well and initiated a lot of quick transitions for Serbia.

Stats (per 36): 18.0pts, 61.2% 2pts (8.5 att), 37.5% 3pts (2.8 att), 59.1% ft (7.6 att), 8.8rebs (3.6 off), 3.8asts, 1.2stls, 2.6tov, 0.5blks, 20.8% usg

what level of comp is that?

okay now give me belle and zeb, and I feel really good about where were at. Really good roster construction top to bottom (better than last year). not a lot of experience in the backcourt but I think we will be alright.

Most rotations in college basketball are 8-9 guys (at best). It's been (generously) extended to ten (10) above.

Last season, we played nine (9) regularly (i.e. the rotation) - starters + Jax, Jennings, Belle, Fermin. The other four (4) got spot (minimal) minutes or sat out (i.e. the bench) - Hill, Billups, Okafor, Carrere. For the most part, five (5) guys shared the perimeter (1-3) and four (4) guys shared the interior (4-5). That's fairly standard.

Not everyone can play meaningful (rotation) minutes - only 200 of them to go around. Final roster construction, injuries, performance/production will ultimately determine the "minutes/role" landscape.

With Belle coming back (what I hear) that leaves VCU with 12 on the roster. Zeb has a good shot at getting a waiver for one more season. Let's say Belle and Jackson are in. The staff would still have two spots they can fill.

If I wanted to go after a pick and pop center...I'd go after Dame Salane.

He went to Stafford High school..he knows virginia.

How would like a 7'1 guy with a 7'7 wingspan and kevin durant comparisons??? Stick him next to Mitchell

DL go get Mason on the phone. I’m sure they would gladly accept your help. But on this message board we trust the coaches a he$$ of a lot more than you.
