" He’s currently averaging 23.5 points, 9.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 7.3 steals per game and shooting over 90 percent from the free throw line"
Ok maybe we do want him![]()
Yes, I see that. I was just emphasizing too, I am less concerned about size. If you are getting division 1 football offers then you will be able to handle a physical VCU play style.I already said this about him bro
Who is the smallest guard we have had in the modern era?Yes, I see that. I was just emphasizing too, I am less concerned about size. If you are getting division 1 football offers then you will be able to handle a physical VCU play style.
phil russel isn’t exactly a “tall guard”Unless he's just can't miss super good, I don't want a 5 foot 9 150lb PG lol. Doesn't really fit into our big guard defensive philosophy
phillip russel is the shortest i can think of since joey rodriguezWho is the smallest guard we have had in the modern era?

duhhJason Nelson was shorter last year, 5 10 iirc
Dionte Neal is a very interesting prospect. Besides his outstanding stats he is considered by some to be the best PG in North Carolina. He is a two sport star being a star WR and has a Football Scolarship from Duke. He is reknown to be one of the most prolific athletes in North Carolina sports history. He is a hot commodity right now as he is an absolute bullet on the hardwood. As always the question is how does a 5'10" athlete translate at the next level. He is currently a finalist for Noth Carolina's covted 'Mr. Basketball" award. I would never dismiss a prospect based on height alone. I've seen that mistake made a number of times. Ryan knows what he is doing folks.
Chaz Williams (UMass) comes to mind. Undersized PG (5'9", 170 lbs) who had tremendous speed and agility and made up for his small size. Averaged 16.5 points per game and 6.2 assists per game for his career. He put up 20 points and had 5 assists and was 8-8 from the FT line in his last game against VCU in 2014 (in which they beat us, and that was the last time UMass went to the NCAA tournament). He had nine 20+ point games and 13 8+ assist games that season, not to mention five points-assists double-doubles.Dionte Neal is a very interesting prospect. Here's another name: Kendall Anthony (UR) who dropped 20 on us multiple times over his career. I couldn't stand him lolChaz Williams (UMass) comes to mind. Not saying Neal would be a repeat of Williams, but it's certainly possible for some of that talent to translate to the college level.
My thigh weighs more than he does. Here's another name: Kendall Anthony (UR) who dropped 20 on us multiple times over his career. I couldn't stand him lol
Neal and Reidsville faced off against Chance Mallory and St. Anne's-Belfield (STAB) in the championship of the John Wall Invitational this year. Mallory is another undersized guard (5'9, though stockier than Neal) who was a former UVA commit and has recently taken visits to Tennessee, Vandy and Maryland. Just another example of a talented small guard.
Anyway, Neal's height isn't a concern for me. As quick as he is, he's very good at changing pace, working angles and using his body to create space. He doesn't just blow by you, he uses his speed as leverage and will blow past the defender if they try to eat up space around the perimeter. He gets to the basket pretty easy, even against elite talent at Peach Jam and other EYBL tournaments, and has great court vision and awareness. If he was a 2025 grad, I think he'd be taking some of Terrence Hill's minutes next season. I trust Odom on this one
