23-24 Opponent Tracking Thread

Nick Kern had himself a game tonight fort Penn State! 22pts, 4 rebs, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk.... 0 TOs
Super happy for Nick. I know his scoring didn't wow anyone last year, but that dude was such an X-factor for us from mid-January through the A10 title game. Dude just found a way to make sh1t happen whenever he was on the court.

Yup! And nothing against the other guys.... Ace, Nunn, Deloach, Watkins or what not.... but I said he was dude I was gonna miss most and last night was a prime example of why. Dude is not afraid of anything or anyone. And as he said himself.... He's a Dog! He got that Dog Mentality.

I think I speak for the other 13 A10 programs when I say that this FridA10 game selection STINKS!
My guess is... this decision was made based on the fact both teams finished in the Top 6 last year.... Fordham was a Top 4 team outta no where last year.

And they expected both teams to be decent this year.... but instead, both teams took big steps back. Fordham has gone from a Top 4 team last year to hovering around a Bottom 4 team like most are accustomed to before last year.

All of this is true and Rose Thrill was a fun environment last season.
With that said..... tonight's game does NOT get me excited to watch. But..... Duquesne has won 6 of 8 A10 games and are creeping into that 5th-9th place range now so that's important.

yeah and looking at Duquesne's remaining games.... @Fordham, LaSalle & GW are all very winnable for them. And in between there's @ GMU & @ VCU.... which you might favor GMU & VCU in those games (especially at home), but both teams have shown, while they can win Big Games.... they can also lay an egg against someone they should beat.

So Duquesne can pretty easily make it in that 5-8 range alongside UMass & the Bonnies & GMU..... which I'll be honest, would & should worry the F out of the Top 4 teams (regardless of the order) as All 4 of them have shown they can hang with the current Top 4 (Dayton, Richmond, Loyola, VCU).

I mean check this out....

GMU- Loss to VCU by 4, Lost @ Richmond by 7, Lost to Loyola by 6, Beat Dayton by 4

SBU- Won at VCU by 11, Beat VCU by 5, Lost at Richmond by 11, Lost @ Dayton by 5..... Yet to play Loyola (home game)

UMass- Whooped VCU's butt by 22, Lost @ Dayton by 4, Lost @ Loyola by 1, Won @ Richmond by 10

Duquesne- Lost @ Loyola by 5, Lost to Dayton by 10, Lost to Richmond by 2, Lost at Dayton by 16..... still has to play @ VCU

Sure there's a lot of L's in there (especially for Duquesne)..... but most all of the losses have been under 10 pts, and quite a few of them under 5 pts.... which means one or two plays going differently changes the entire outcome of the game.

That's a scary possible 5-8 in the A10 Tournament.

One things is for sure the A10 tourney this year is going to be wide open. Literally any team can beat any team in this league rn. I am not sure who I would put money on.

If VCU can manage to avoid SBU or UMass, I like our chances.

Some top school is going to be knocked off by a SLU or a LaSalle that gets hot for 3 days. I'm sure of it.
