"Coach Smart is probably one of the most intelligent guys I've ever been around," Pegues said. "As an assistant at Florida, he would reach out to me and ask me about different players and what was going on in D.C. We developed a relationship that way."

Smart was named VCU coach April 2 after Anthony Grant's move to Alabama. In June, he called Pegues and offered him a job.

"This place is incredible," Pegues said. "The building is 10 years old and it looks like they just opened it. The fans are so into it. It really does remind me of 1999 and 2000, when we had the Bob [Carpenter Center] packed and it was sold out. ... It's great to be in a basketball town."

Wow, thats the first time I've read Richmond labled as any kind of sports town. That says alot about what VCU is doing in Richmond.

Richmond is a college basketball town
they have just needed a team to focus on
VCU is rapidly becoming that focus

I agree and I think EVERYONE will notice that on Wednesday night when the whole world comes out to see the game!
