League A10 Basketball: news and discourse around the league

Time for Fordham to go to The Patriot League and LaSalle to head for the MAAC.
And who would replace them and then who would become the bottom feeder(s) that we would rag on the leave the conference? All conferences have bottom feeders. Should DePaul leave the BE? Should Rice leave the AAC? Should BC leave the ACC?

Why do we need to replace them? We have enough bottom feeders in the A-10 that we can afford to cut two. Duquesne, Richmond etc are more than capable of carrying that load.

I believe the hope would be that you don't have a perennial bottom feeder. Anyone can have a bad season and end up on the bottom. Someone has to be there like you said but you do want to have teams or at least capable of helping the conference in a given year. And yes all of those conferences would be better off without the teams that you mentioned.

Exactly...in a world of conference bloat, we just go the other way. Sometimes less is more

We currently (after UMass leaves) have 14 members....Lose Fordham/LaSalle and that's a nice 12

Scheduling would be easier....travel would instantly be easier (remember, this is ALL sports...not just basketball)...what little TV money that's available becomes a bigger slice....NCAA units would go further.

Heck...lean into it and make it the A12. I love how we call it the A10, but never consider what the "10" part used to mean.

All you need is a majority support from member schools and there we go. I know it's not exactly that simple, but it CAN be done. It would require, however, BOLD LEADERSHIP and a better long view of the future. So, I'm not gonna hold my breath

As if the A10/Bernadette needed any MORE reason to boot Fordham.....but they won't, they'll just sit on their hands....feckless and impotent

Hey!!, That could be the A10's new slogan!!!

The A10...Feckless and Impotent. In a world of great bread, we're happy with the crumbs

Stay the course, Bernadette....don't make waves and keep cashing your checks

Nice work, if you can get it
Lol $1.35m year? Why, that's $1.35m per bid she's gotten the last couple of years. Surprised there's much money left over.

JFC… if we could just dump La Salle & Fordham the conference would be so much better.

This pretty much tracks with how I have been viewing the offseason, with the exception of SBU. VCU and SLU have been doing a great job plucking players from the portal. GWU has done a great job retaining key pieces, and also has some nice "gets". Dayton has been more quiet than I'd expect, given that they would be expected to have about as much money to spend as VCU. I'm curious about the Bonnies' ranking, though. I keep hearing how they're doing really well. I don't know how many players they currently have on their roster, though. Perhaps overall they don't have that many?

I will say, these numbers may not be accurate (well, they're probably not accurate anyway) because some of the rosters have errors. VCU is missing Nyk Lewis (he's listed on Xavier) and still has Martin Carrere.
