I thought they were walking the aisles…Some number of asses in seats
I suspect most track asses in the building, but just don’t publish it…No one tracks asses in the seats. It is always tickets sold. It's a "sell out," not an "occupied-seat-out."

Those are some pathetic numbers for the bottom half of the league. The season has now concluded for all A-10 teams. These were the 2023-24 season men's basketball home attendance numbers (per stats from each program's site) reported for the fifteen A-10 schools:

Yeah, I've never seen any data on this. What are the percentage of flat ones versus plump ones. How many big one compared small ones. How many athletic butts we're attracting versus flabby ones. We need to get a graduate student on this as soon as possible! No one tracks asses in the seats.
Some of those programs have very small venues so the numbers are a bit misleading. You can't just pronounce them as pathetic. What needs to be included is the arena seating capacity for these programs. Because, let's face it, VCU numbers look pathetic against Dayton......except we both sellout/fill our venues to max capacity for most/many of our games......thus, not pathetic. Those are some pathetic numbers for the bottom half of the league.
That’s not entirely true. Teams have the option to send their spirit squads to away games during the NIT it’s just usually not done to financial reasons.I can't find it, but I'm pretty certain I saw something that said the NIT payout is now up to $5,200 for each game played plus expenses. The NIT is a little more than breakeven for most teams.
The money ESPN pays to the NCAA to broadcast the games is part of the overall contract package, from what I understand, so no school gets extra for being on any of the ESPN channels.
As for the Peppas, a band NEVER travels to a true road game. Our game was at Villanova and tonight is at South Florida, so as true road games, our band will not be going. That's not a VCU decision. That's just standard practice for a road game. If you were Villanova or South Florida, would you want the visiting team bringing their pep band? If we make the semifinals at Hinkle, then it's a neutral court game, and we could bring the band.
Well there you have it. If we cannot afford it we cannot afford it.That’s not entirely true. Teams have the option to send their spirit squads to away games during the NIT it’s just usually not done to financial reasons.

Look as much as I like dancers, cheer leaders, and the band, they aren’t the product I come to see.
If leaving any and all ancillary personnel behind means I have more money for players and the team I say put the money on the players and the team.
Band/spirit squad is important but not as important as the team. Further when fans don’t show up there isn’t much spirit to muster.
At USF there were less than 50 VCU fans in attendance. Spending on the spirit squad would have been a waste.
Finally love what they do and energy they bring but there is a hierarchy to this thing. Why not do fundraisers to supplement your budget? You are a great band. Sell you talent on the open market.
I know it's purely subjective, but I'd be curious what venues others think are the best to go watch the Rams on the road?Dayton - 99.9
VCU- 94.5
UR- 81
SLU- 53
URI - 52.9
Bona- 74
GMU- 39
Umass- 36.6
Loy- 62
Davidson-55
Duq- 73
SJU- 53.6
Ford- 58
LaSalle- 49.7
GWU- 32.5
I've only been to Westhampton which is nice, but not going to lie, going there and losing sucks.I know it's purely subjective, but I'd be curious what venues others think are the best to go watch the Rams on the road?
Davidson when packed is good and decent sightlines. Dayton is fantastic when the crowd is into it. I was there for a W where we blew a 20 pt lead and Evans saved our a$$. It was wild. One of the best atmospheres I’ve seen. The view kind of sucks though especially the upper sections. UR probably is the best for away fans as far as viewing. No bad seats and honestly if we build a new arena we should use that model especially acoustics. If wanting to see based on atmosphere Dayton, UR (They show up for that game.), Bona, Davidson, and SJUI know it's purely subjective, but I'd be curious what venues others think are the best to go watch the Rams on the road?
