And off the court too. Good students and good citizens of RVA.Honestly I only care about the results on the court after they get here.
IDK, I'm good with an a-hole leading us to the final four. And off the court too. Good students and good citizens of RVA.
That's right, my bad.DJ was a Wade recruit.
And only a disappointment if the expectation was that he'd be the best player we've ever had. And if that was the expectation, kinda shows a lack of understanding of how the ratings should be interpreted.DJ was a Wade recruit.
Yeah, DJ was a dude! "I'm dialled in from deep, call me!" is one of my favorite VCU memories. I'll happily take more rangy wings who shoot ~38% from 3.And only a disappointment if the expectation was that he'd be the best player we've ever had. And if that was the expectation, kinda shows a lack of understanding of how the ratings should be interpreted.
I don't know much about it but I've seen tweets to that effect too. A number of UConn fans seem to think the Martellis can handle him.Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Uconn posters on Reddit are mentioning Nowell’s trainer/father figure is a PITA. Any insight on that?
I think Martelli was a good hire, but He wasn't getting Nowell and Tracey to go play at Bryant. This
It’s the program
Tasheed Carr. Played for Martelli Sr. Probably sour grapes from UConn fans, but the guy seems to be quite active and assertive on twitter.I don't know much about it but I've seen tweets to that effect too. A number of UConn fans seem to think the Martellis can handle him.
Maybe less about "handling" him, more like (perhaps) already have a mutual understanding and established sense of respect between them. I believe Tasheed played a major part in why Ahmad is soon to be on campus, as did the Martelli relationship.I don't know much about it but I've seen tweets to that effect too. A number of UConn fans seem to think the Martellis can handle him.
Appreciate the insight.Ok, I’ll add my two cents here, take it for what it is worth.
Prior to Ahmad arriving at UConn, Carr could not stop kissing those coaches’ butts. Kimani and Dan were the best coaches ever and were going to win a third straight championship and Ahmad would be in the NBA after his sophomore season. The coaches took it all with a grain of salt because they know how he is. If things go perfectly for Ahmad (and I truly hope they do), and he agrees with every decisions that’s made, you will have no bigger hype man than Tasheed. If you follow him on socials, you will have to deal with his homophobia and wild conspiracy theories, but he will be VCU and Martelli’s biggest fan. He’ll talk to you at games and tell you how fortunate they were to get away from UConn. But, this past season, he was out there openly trashing the coaches and Ahmad’s teammates and trying to get him to Pitino and St. John’s and flat out lying about the coaches/program. Parent and parental figures are going to have disagreements with their kids’ coaches from time to time. It happens, but trying to make yourself the story never helps your kid. Any agreement or understanding goes out the window when someone is trying to sabotage your program. For Ahmad’s sake, I hope that doesn’t happen again.
All that being said, Ahmad is pure joy. He is a tremendous player and teammate. I know it’s just social media, but Hurley and Luke Murray and Kimani Young all “liked” his instagram post announcing his commitment to VCU. They love the kid and want him to succeed. He had minor injuries this past season, nothing major, but he wanted to play so badly. He did have a tough adjustment period and the injuries messed with his momentum and practice, but the dude is a worker. I think he can be a star in the A10 and fits the role of a tough, relentless VCU player.
