I'm sure someone will post that he's really a power forward.Welcome aboard Ahmad Nowell.
Can someone break down his game? Shooter, defensive prowess, wingspan, good at passing?
According to his HS highlights... HE NEVER MISSES!!!
Is he a PG, SG, or combo guard?
Jadrian TraceyWhat's his name?
I've always been told not to watch other people's pockets.feel like were spending the most on nowell out of everybody on the roster
Just posted that before reading your post. What was his shoulder injury and when did it occur. Did he have an operation to repair the damage or will he need one in the off season.
He looks a bit like phillip Russell. Same size, 10 lbs heavier. Sort of play the same in the highlights. He is basically a freshman with a year off due to injury. He likely will have the opportunity to play depending on other guards we may recruit. So what does that give us....three guards so far: Jennings, Nowell and Hill Jr.
Who did we zoom recruit this weekend and who is the kid from Oregon?
Yeah, I doubt his new coach needed to incorporate meditation into his life to become a tolerable human being off the court like his former coach. We don’t know much about our new coach yet but this young man will no doubt have a VERY different coaching experience at VCU than he did at UCONN.
Welcome to VCU!
That's a bit of an odd visit. Started off at Saint Joe's and didn't do much under Lange but somehow transferred up? Then he didn't do much at Oregon. Wasn't very highly rated before college. He's from Florida so no natural connection that I see to PM Jr.Jadrian Tracey
He played with Ryan Daly I think that is the connectionThat's a bit of an odd visit. Started off at Saint Joe's and didn't do much under Lange but somehow transferred up? On the surface I don't get the interest in him unless he's view strictly as an experienced player off the bench who will accept his role? Someone will need to enlighten me on that one.
He's about 8 inches short of a power forward. He's got the body.I'm sure someone will post that he's really a power forward.
And if he grabs a couple of rebounds some here will view him as really being a 4.He's about 8 inches short of a power forward. He's got the body.
Kind of an apples to oranges comparison but I get the point. Maynor hooked up with a new coach as a sophomore and got unlocked, so I see what you're saying. For everyone concerned about Nowell’s lack of playing time and production his freshman season: I seem to remember a point guard from the early 2000s who had limited playing time his freshman year and then went on to dominate the CAA the next three years and hit “The Dagger” along the way.
Thanks for this STB. You obviously know the UConn rotation better than I do. But notwithstanding my error, that merely underscores my point: Diarra was a 5th year senior who had won 2 nattys. It just wasn't realistic to expect Nowell to displace him.great get for Martelli jr. - love getting players with upside and 3 years of eligibiity - Big East level playing for Hurley is a tough nut to crack for freshmen unless your a lottery pick like Liam - Hurley runs an intricate offense that is tough to pick up initially
Nowell actually was behind Diarra and then Aidan Mahaney (st mary's guard) - Hurley actually gave Nowell the back up slot for awhile but Mahaney won it back - but down the regular season stretch, big East tourney and Ncaa - nowell was healthy but not in normal rotation as Hurley reduced the rotation
Solo Ball was SG and not who Nowell would sub in for - when Ball left Liam did lots of ball handling on perimeter
Saw Uconn in Raleigh and probably watched about 5 other games on TV
