Grant on Eblen, a guy he originally signed at VCU: "Well, I'm very excited about Ben. Had a chance to get to know him and his family during my time at VCU. And as you all know, he signed with us at VCU and after my departure, I think he had time to sit down with their staff, decided it was in his best interests to make a move. We were fortunate once he made that decision to get him up here. He was extremely impressed with what he saw on our campus in Tuscaloosa and made a decision that this is where he wanted to call home. He's a guy who will give us some very much-needed depth in the backcourt. He will bring a defensive intensity, some leadership qualities, that our team needs and I'm excited about having him."

cough cough cough cough

if the Dirty Tide ever does show its face in the Siegel Center... and I have my doubts they ever will ... I hope there's no ovations or cheers of thanks... might as well grab your ankles

I am going to boo Eblen's ass every second he's in the game. I won't do that to Anthony but I'm going to taunt Eblen so hard.

Ditto.

Notice how he said he'll bring depth. Can you say back-up? Ben, you could have been a star @ VCU. I can't wait until players realize this.

Nick: For me it is just the opposite. Eblen is a young high school student who is still developing his values and ethics--and college should greatly help him. On the other hand, Grant is an adult and I would think highly of him if he said to Elben, "Sorry, my ethics won't allow me to sign you because I signed you for VCU. You may signed with any other university or stay at VCU, but professionally I can't (or won''t) sign you for Alabama" Now for me that wold be class (which I thought Coach Grant was that kind of man). Sorry, I put the ball in Grant's conner.

He'll provide depth? That almost sounds like he'll be spending a lot of time on the bench.

why does it have to be either/or? I think it's perfectly fair to hold this against both AG and BE...

but to be sure, AG has to get the vast majority of the blame. Eblen hardly had any connection to VCU, a visit and a LOI is about all... and he's still a young guy who probably hasn't had to stand on his own much yet, and so maybe doesn't really know what the value of making choices and promises, and then standing by them.

AG on the other hand should know all about that, and frankly has been counting on young men to honor their words to him, and selling them on the idea that he would return the favor. He's also learned that promising institutions the moon gets him what he wants in the short run, while at the same time he's searching for the next best offer. If it had only happened once... maybe a misunderstanding that he thought Larry wanted to join him... maybe that would be understandable, but the attempt to poach Larry PLUS poaching Eblen? That shows a troubling pattern. I'll never believe that BE's backing out of his LOI wasn't coaxed, it's just too bad that there's probably nothing provable about it. I used to think I'd just be neutral about AG at 'bama... kind of the "dead to me" thing... but the more that's come out, the more I'd like to see him get comeuppance... NCAA violations, unsuccessful seasons, angry boosters calling for his scalp... f him.

Eblen? eh, I don't wish him all that much ill aside from the general pox I wish upon the tide... but when, or if, he plays us... then I want at least one screen set by KP... nothing actually dirty, but ya know, "spirited"

I will vehemently boo both of them, Grant played us like a puppet and eblen is just following. I fear some may cheer him unfortunately, we need to come up with a plan as to how we're going to treat them when they come, I fear some may want to applaud grant, I don't he just rode maynor's coatails.

We need to show some class. A different way to deal with the situation could be to get as loud as possible during the team introductions, and then have the place DEAD QUITE when Grant and Eblen are introduced. :o Imagine a rocking SC and then nothing, and then back to the craziness. Then during the game have some chants set up. Anthony 2 Face, clap clap clap clap clap clap. The goal should be to get into their heads.

Anthony Two face
?

Give it a rest please...

That goes for everybody else talking crap about Grant, he did what he thought was best and for him Alabama was the best. Now we can say that we don't like the fact that Grant left and wish he had stayed but please stop with the personal insults and to do that in a game would be completely classless.

Kill him with kindness... he won't expect everyone to stand up and cheer as loud as they can when he comes back.

I don't know if I will be insulting the guy, but I don't see myself killing him with kindness or cheering for him.

what he said!

I won't necessarily cheer, but I will not be disrespectful either. Most of you on this forum could ony dream of making 400K a year, and if offered a 1600K per year raise, 99.7% of you would probably leave behind everything you own (save for a pair of underwear and some socks) to take that deal. Cut the man some slack, he's got a family.

As far as Ben goes, assume you got hired by an OK corporation, with decent benefits (national tv coverage of games) and competitive pay (i.e. playing time), but mostly you took the job because thought your boss was the coolest guy on the planet. If was then hired to be the boss at another company with even better benefits, but slightly lower pay, and you didn't think your new boss was as cool as the old one, wouldn't you move the the new company as well, if offered a position?

It’s not about him leaving for greener pastures; it’s about how he left....and what he did after he left. Continuously shopping himself is one thing, but stealing players is a whole other level. And organized chants at opposing coaches and players are totally apart of college basketball. I'm not going to boo the man, but I'm darn sure not going to cheer him either.

...and then undermine the old company you left???
