I'm certain;y not under-rating Theus. I on;y say that because from day-1 when I heard about his signing, I felt really good about it. And I honestly believe he is going to be an excellent player. It really sounds like to me that he is a combo guard that has serious point guard ability. Sounded to me that the main reason he played the 2 in h/s was becuase they had a kid that was more limited to the p/g slot, where Theus could play the 2, score, help with the ball handling, hit the boards harder, and that arrangement made his whole team better.
I bleive that was the EXACT same scenario we saw with Ro Lamb in 1981. I mean- to a tee. Ro led the state in scoring and rebounding, and he did all that only after he brought the ball up for his team, and then moved into offensive position. he was listed as a combo guard, that could score, and everyone knew that he was going to be a seriously talented D-1 p/g.
And finally, how about Ed Sherod. Same thing. A scoring combo guard that was inevitably a floor general extraordinaire, and a true scoring p/g. Hey- I'm not saying Theus will equate to half of a Ro Lamb. Or half of an Ed Sherod. All I'm saying is that I really like what I hear about his game, his size, and his athleticism, and that we've seen this scenario before. BA Walker was nother one. A scoring combo guard that flourished as a freshman P/G.... just like Ro and Ed.
