ATH: Brandenberg...

After Chris 'No Easy Buckets' Kowalczyk, I can confidently say that Rob Brandenberg is the coolest Ohioan I know.

What is the record for points by a freshmen at VCU?

We'll probably find out Saturday when Rob breaks it.

Best thing to come out of Ohio since this:

Spent my first 17 years in Indiana. Both Indiana and Ohio produce some great basketball. It's good to see that we are tapping this area. Perhaps Brandenberg is only the first!

I'm not sure he is saying that dom has the record, maybe he can clarify

Brandenberg's 22 points are the most by a VCU freshman since Dom Jones poured in 23 points on SMU on Dec. 21, 2000.

His hang time and quickness are unreal. On my scale of potential, this young man is a MONSTER headache for the teams we play. I saw our guys respond to adversity, the way good TEAMS would. Winning is positive and positive is good for healing. Get well guys, because things are starting to heat up. GO RAMS!

It's always nice to know that you have a guy who can create his own shot when it gets late in the game and the opposition is ramping up the defense. Rob looks to be that kind of guy.

Yeah, he showed no fear last night. The kind of guy you need to have on your team.

you know everyone is commenting on his offensive explosion and obviously it was awesome, but his defense has been there all season. You can count on at least what 1 steal for easy lay up a game just from brandenburg. That one game at home he had back to back steals and layups.

Merc, that's exactly what I was thinking last night watching the game. He's fearless. All the good ones have that quality. And that doesn't mean just being willing to jack up bad shots. He plays within the offense and takes what the defense gives him and a little more.
