Some players and coaches try to avoid criticism and refuse to read the papers, chat rooms or watch the talking heads on TV, but not Rodriguez. Whenever he sees a negative comment about himself, Rodriguez prints it out and pastes it on his wall, or saves it as his desktop as his wallpaper.
He’s heard the haters. Now, louder than ever, Rodriguez is firing back on the court.
Outstanding play is becoming commonplace for the VCU junior. In the Rams’ seven games since Christmas, the 5-10 point guard is averaging 14.0 points and 6.0 assists per game. His assist-to-turnover ratio over that stretch is better than 3-to-1, and he’s shooting than 49 percent (35-of-73) from the field.
