I tried to put together a list of some of the crazy VCU-Drexel games from past years for the Daily Blog. Feel free to reminisce. Video of BA's winner is forthcoming, but I wanted to get this up on the site.

Was just discussing this earlier with Michael.

Haven't looked at the link yet, though I will after I post, but man those were some gut busting games!

Bashir Mason pulling at his jersey on our media table (still pissed at that one), B.A. flexing after his game winner, JPR getting that bomb from Doles...

There was about 3 or 4 years there were every game was wild til the end. I felt like DU was beating us at home and we were beating DU at their place.

Still can't believe they didn't go farther with Frank Ellegar and Chaz Crawford in the paint.

The Bashir Mason game was my first ever VCU game. Remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting right behind the Drexel bench and after Slim made his three I started talking trash to Sean Brooks and he looked at me and smiled. After Mason made that shot Sean Brooks looked at me winked and joined the celebration

That game sucked. I will never forget it. I will also never forget the Mike Doles football pass to JPR (from baseline to half court) @ Drexel that had Gerald Henderson screaming "I told choo dat wus gonna happen!" It was beautiful.

Yeah, that one in Philly that Wyne mentioned is easily my favorite of the rivalry!

The Bashir Mason game, the classy Drexel coaching staff cursing, flipping off, and crotch grabbing at the VCU band on their way off the court was pretty priceless....

One time I asked Phil Goss what a Drexel was during halftime warm ups... he looked at me and said,
"My d!ck!" That was pretty priceless.

I will also never forget the CAA semifinals in 2003 where Drexel kicked our butt most of the game. We mounted a furious comeback and tied the game in the final seconds. On the final play of the game Robert Battle travelled and put in a layup to win it, the travel was not called. There have been some awesome games between VCU and Drexel the last 7 years!

Why did you have to bring that up? I'm still pissed that Troy Godwin didn't even challenge that shot. All he did was put his arms up.

Just reminicsing. It killed me... I was in a deep depression for a few days. We were only 19-13 that year, Capel's first, but the way we came back in that game just made this loss feel HORRIBLE.

F you Robert Battle and Bashir Mason.

That being said, having all the Rowdies take their shirts off and wave them at Bash the next game was amusing.

F Drexel. I will look at your sight later! All I know if me and Dave were there we would have reaked havoc.

I love these previews/history lessons, but as soon as I read the Ga State one I started getting nervous about all of the close games we have had in Atl. As the game was winding down tonight I kept thinking about all of the close games that you referenced in this piece. Might have to start saving these for after the game.
