VCU crushed the Seahawks yesterday but now they have to be focused on Monday when they take on Northeastern who beat them last season at Siegel. Sadly when teams crush one team they sometimes come into the next match up too confident and get beaten. How can VCU avoid having this happen? Also the Rams only have really a day and a half to rest up for tomorrow.(Maybe Smart was thinking about that when he took his starters out early)

Agreed....the team needs to avoid a letdown. Larry even mentioned they looked at the UNCW game a bit different because it was a conference game. They need to keep that in mind for the next game.

And while swagger is a good thing, being humble is even better.

The swagger: We came out tough and hard against UNCW. We didn't let up. We played as a team. We completely rattled UNCW. We dominated. Regardless of how they played this year, we would have won the game....we are that d@mn good :)

The humble: UNCW isn't that good this year. while we did our part in the game.....they also seemed to have a very off day. As Moss said, his team was extremely timid out there. I think UNCW contributed about a 1/3 to their own domination while we contributed 2/3 rds. I don't think we are going to see another team this season who will fall apart to the extent UNCW did in this game. NE is NOT UNCW. AND we are that d@mn good....WMU is not.

Well considering we lost to them at this very venue last season, I'm thinking payback is on the mind of the Rams right now. No way they overlook Northeastern. They gave us our lone home loss last season.

Northeastern has won 4 in a row, beat us here last year and is always a factor in the conference race (just wish they would win a few more OOC games). Players should be ready - let's hope the fans are ready - thought we were "too light" for ECU and for UNCW the team didn't need us. Let's be ready tomorrow night!! Don't expect a big crowd, but let's make it a rowdy crowd!!

The 4 straight AND last year Janning and Maynor had an "altercation" under the basket - - in the replays it appeared Janning was the aggressor (although at first blush it looked like it was Maynor). Good game for payback.

well every team in the caa played saturday and are playing again tomorrow...id say with them having to spend all day tomorrow traveling to richmond (or maybe hopping on a plan today i really dont know) gives us the advantage there.

There is no doubt in my mind that they came down today and are already here.

...and they played JMU on Saturday without Denzel Bowles who was suspended for breaking a team rule. The Huskies rolled and their starters played about 10 minutes less than they typically would. Fatigue would not be as big a factor as we would like to think.

We had the same advantage with nobody playing more than 20 minutes against UNCW as well. Our depth should pay dividends over the next week with all the games we have coming up.

bump

First, refs didn't cost us the game or influence like last time. Yeah they came into play but the Rams looked loss different times. The three from Sanders after the comeback with the crowd on the their feet was very bad. Bad judgment. Northeastern once again was not affected by the crowd and was composed while VCU wasn't.

I blame you.

...ok, not really, but it's tempting.

To be fair, and I should have said this prior to the game, this is not really a letdown - it's more just a darn good team that gives us all kinds of matchup problems that came in to our house and beat us straight up.
