losses to teams with losing records....can we at least beat delaware please

Do we attribute this to growing pains with a new coach, not playing smart basketball (e.g., poor shot selection, poor positioning, allowing the opposing team too many open 3's...), or is there something serious that is now showing itself in conference play?

Tulane, ECU, West. Mich., and now DU all have monster offensive games against us as compared to how they've played their other opponents. We are not physical. We don't take it to the rack. We prefer the fade away. We shy away from contact. It's a man's game. It was pretty pathetic watching that little DU guy stare Larry down after blocking his shot. "Don't bring that weak sause."

yes ;)

tonight it was the defense...if that is what we call it...10 threes.....can we get an update on how we stand defending the three ... not to mention they had more fast break points as well as points off the bench. .500 teams taking us to the wood shed

Wow. I hope that guy Chuck calls in tomorrow night on the coach's show and asks him that.

Interesting point re the lack of physical play aspect. Is this Shaka's style? If so, hope he learns quickly that this won't work in the CAA. We still have to play the tougher teams in conference -- will Shaka begin to make adjustments?

I don't think it's Coach Smart's "style," although maybe he is having problems imposing his will

I think TJ is a little too short
KP is a few speeds too slow
Terrance is a bit too raw
And the Landlord is undergoing foreclosure

...Skeen may hold the answer, or at least some of it, as long as he can D, which I haven't seen or heard enough about yet to get a feeling.

While it was a close game, it was only so by the grace of Burgess' monster night... sorry it had to be tarnished by the L

Glad I did not listen or watch. Would have been too painful. Watched a rented movie instead with "the" wife. Coach Smart has a lot of explaining to do. When was the last time we lost two back to back?

last season, at URI and at ECU

season before that. twice ... to Miami(FL) and Arkansas, and then to W&M and UAB

2006-2007 was the last time we didn't have back-to-back Ls at some point

the season before that, it happened twice

2004-2005 it happened 3 times, including a 3'fer

2003-2004... next last time with no double-Ls

2002-2003 - 3 times, including the 1st 2 games and the last 2 games of the reg. season

so having a couple of losses in a row is more the rule than the exception

Delaware took W&M into overtime tonight. I hope we don't overlook them also.

After two straight losses I don't think anybody will be overlooked anytime soon.
