Bigger payday trumps all. If he's getting a bigger payday (and that is, in fact, why he left), hard to see how he'd regret it, playing time be damned.

With that, are you suggesting the Texas Tech talent level is that much higher than VCU? Not I.

Head to heed, on foreign boards, I'd favor the Red Raiders by three ... at The Stu, I'd favor the Rams by same amount.

And the "playing time be damned" comment ... don't you think Luke sees a pro career beyond college? Just my opinion, but don't you feel he wants to post the best numbers possible to land a lucrative overseas deal, perhaps as soon as 25-26? Or does he want to say in school to "have something to fall back on?"

Everyone feels different about things ... but I'm not sitting the bench in college for anyone .... and Luke won't at Tech.

The thing is Luke is getting paid more than he did at VCU(according to a Red Raider "insider". Also, there is little to no chance he sacrifices playing time. Luke(16mpg) is the direct replacement for Fede Fede(18mpg) Being a basketball junkie, I have watched Fede Fede for his three years of D1 basketball staring with his 9 min in the lost to VCU when he was at Pitt. If you look at his 3 year numbers and compare them to Luke's 1 year number, they ae all most identical in all the major categories except blocks. legitimate argument could be made that Luke is an upgrade from Fede Fede. There are a couple of Big10 schools viving for his services but should al those fall through and it gets late in the summer, PM Jr might give him a call if he decides he wants a version of Luke. Fede Fede played high school ball in PA and was offered by the staff at Bryant out of HS

If he wants the same or more playing time, I hope he gets it, but the only guaranteed thing is more money with perhaps a promise of more playing time. I feel good with the guys PMJr has gotten, and hope it works out for all. Go Rams!

I don't think Luke has the strength to hold his own against the bigs he'll be facing. Also, he wasn't exactly dominating the A10.

He will still get a ton of blocks but he does need to work on his positioning and rebounding. He has tremendous upside and he will adapt.

Luke is a very good athlete with long wingspan and excellent timing on his blocks. He made a lot of improvement on his game and needed role as last season progressed. Without that progression, coupled with Fermin’s propensity to have to sit due to fouls, we very much needed Luke last year. It appears to me (I speculate without inside knowledge) coaching staff made a business decision on what they were willing to pay Luke for his ‘25/‘26 services as well as where his present skills/potential are relative to the system PMJ wants to employ. They likely then begin allocating their cash to buy this year’s team, as Luke waited to see who might be the highest bidder. PMJ appears to have chosen to spend his budget on acquiring who he has, which may have been influenced by LD’s perceived fit over Luke as well as cash earmarked for other positions/players. I enjoyed Luke’s contributions last year and think the staff secured and paid for 4/5s as they preferred. Appears like a good business decision all around.

All these transfer stories are missing an essential element .... what are they getting paid? Was there a bidding war?

How much did VCU offer the Englishman compared to Texas Tech or maybe Grand Canyon>

In journalism, that's called "burying the lead."

Will these numbers ever be reported?
We should first know if it is our right to know. Is it public information or is it private or protected information. If it's private/protected then we have no right to know and your question is moot.

Hopefully, we will find out that it is public information ... then let's make it real "public." .... instead of traditional jersey numbers, players/employees could wear their salaries on their back .....

Ref's call ... "Blocking foul on No. $455,263."

That would make for an interesting "jersey retirement" ceremony.

He was only a Freshman. He’ll bulk up. He was a very good first year player. I think he’s going to be pretty solid.

Sometimes chasing quick money ends up costing you more money in the long run. Oh well, not my pockets. I just don't want anyone in the forum admonishing me for not caring if his career fizzles at Texas Tech.

Yet first team all defense as a freshman
Blocking Fordham is not the same as blocking Kansas. Even still he didn’t have some crazy good offense that is guaranteed to translate. Sure he might develop that but he’s just another big now in the Big 12. Nevermind he had his fair amount of foul trouble and he wasn’t facing elite bigs in the A10.
