The green sweater vests are coming to town about the same time Santa is going by the Stu. Here's hoping Santa brings aload of rainmakers for the good Ram boys and girls.
W&M seems unpredictable but you can be sure they are hyped to win in Richmond. We need to play with confidence and get off to a good start. The early tee time is a concern.
Go Rams

the green sweater vests are staying in williamsburg for the football game. Will probably be more tribe players than fans.

After the quality of teams we've played early, coming off a loss, at the Stu, and it's the first CAA game of the season...W&M should be walking into a virtual buzz saw.

I say we win by 20 over W&M at the Stu.

I work with a former Tribe football player and I have heard all week of how sweet it would be if the Tribe beat us. Well, today I guaranteed at least a 20 pt win. Oh how sweet it would be to go to work on Monday morning and break the news. Wait he'll be watching their playoff game. That’s why they have texting.

Wore a tribe tee shirt when they played at the coliseum once last year, now it's my oil rag, used it yesterday. GO RAMS! :o

Hold them to 39 points for the game...no...wait...that's been done already...38 points, then.

Hope we can secure a large enough lead to start testing the waters with Reddic. I would really love to see what he looks like with 15-20 minutes in the game.

W&M is young, really young (their rotation includes four freshmen and a couple sophs) -- and turnover-prone, REALLY turnover-prone.

That's a bad recipe for playing at the Stu against a VCU team that's gonna be very happy to be back home.

McDowell should get his, but the press is going to devastate the Fighting Shavers. Anything less than a total blowout (say, 20-25 points?) will be a stunner IMHO.

Behold, the Green and the Gold!

The Tribesmen relied on a long-range, cold-hearted marksman named Winter (27 points) to defeat the Rams, 73-65, in the inaugural WM at The Stu match, Jan. 12, 2000.

Since then, the Green Coats are 0-10 on West Broad, while being outscored 780-619.

The Stu opened in 99-00 with a rousing win over Denny Crum U, followed by victories over Delaware State (in OT) and Colorado. Overall, VCU was 12-3 at home the first year.

In addition to the WM loss that season, VCU fell to Tulane (85-44) and GMU (76-63) on the home boards. The 41-point loss to Tulane, VCU's first-ever setback at its new digs, ranks as perhaps the worst home-court annihilation I have ever seen by any school on any level.

Still, that wasn't McGirthy's worst-ever loss, in terms of tucking one's tail ... I'd say the 56-85 loss AT William & Mary, in '00, was the most humbling. By the end, WM was playing it's walk-ons ... and even they were increasing the margin.

Ha! Green sweater vests. I would guess, just by a visual observation, that the W&M fanbase is older than the UR one. Shoot, even the ushers at Kaplan are ancient.

One of my many favorite stories in regards to VCU basketball is a trip we took down roughly 4, maybe 5 years ago? Mind you this is in my much more immature days. But I was sitting in a row with Merc and Morris, maybe Bannana at Kaplan and we got there early when the doors opened. We were screaming at David Schneider b/c of his goofy ass shot and jew-fro. I think I screamed the generic "Hey David, You Suck!" An usher, born circa 1851, came rushing over at his tortoise pace demanded that we not say suck. I said okay, that works for me and is very understandable kind sir. My I scream "Hey David, you fellate!" He obliged and had no problem with it. Ahhhh fun times and immaturity.

One thing, the games here can't compare to the games we have had with the Tribe at Kaplan. Last year, case in point. As bitter as that loss was the game itself was marvelous.

Then you add things like Rodney getting his(her) nose broken by a W&M frat boy a few years ago and George Byrd missing the winning field goal and he and Willie Taylor being suspended for a game. That also I think, was the last straw for Mack McCarthy and resulted in Dick Sander hiring JC3 as our head coach. The rest is history.

So while there has been good basketball at the Stu between the the Rams and the Tribe (is that in fact their current nickname?) for sheer entertainment the games at Kaplan win hands down.

Saw them get stomped at the Robins Center mid-November playing U of R, definitely not looking like the W&M of last season. Though it looks like they played Syracuse close. Still, I predict this'll be one in the W column for the Rams.
