Big man play tonight: Thoughts please.

Yes, but if you need him for a defensive stop late in a game and he's forced to sit on the bench because he has fouled out (again) then that is a problem. He's got to learn how to move his feet and not play defense by letting his man get around him and using his arms/reach. He will learn and develop though, don't get me wrong, he's gonna be nasty when he gets the defensive part of his game down!

Can anyone guess who has the third most total rebounds on the team to date? Answer 5'10 pg Joey Rodriquez.

As to average Joey is 4th Toby has a slightly better average.

That is a sad stat as Joey isn't a high rising board crashing point. If he can get about 3 per game then other guys really need to step it up.

I was pleased, considering all of the young guys comprised in this group. Would liked to have seen more rebounds, as others have mentioned.

Juvonte continues to show a lot of promise. Was glad to see him finally block a shot...a nasty block at that!

The single most problem with this team regarding rebounding is nobody on this team follows their shot. They jack up a 3 and start back peddling. Basic basketball is follow your shot. Until these guys figure that out, we are going to get hammered on rebounding.

This...

I'd also say it's what others have said about having a 'desire' to rebound and it being mental...Brad showed it against Drexel...check the VCURN video...late game...that's the tenacity we need on the defensive end...Rob crashing the board on offense...

Joey is a rebounder and a fierce competitor. Had to get it out.

Bang is a cool dude and a fierce fan. Had to get it out there.

Speaking of "big men," the new varsity boys basketball coach at Thomas Jefferson High is Special K himself, Kendrick Warren.

The ex-Ram great needs all the support he can get.

TJ's enrollment is less than half of some of his suburban foes: Tucker, Freeman, Hermitage, Deep Run, Godwin, Patrick Henry, etc. TJ also has the state's oldest gym - constructed in 1929.

When you count high school, college and pro, KW might be the highest scoring basketball player in the history of Richmond hoops.

In addition to his coaching duties, Kendrick is a full-time counselor in TJ's Community in Schools program.

If you're free tonight, try this: TJ at Hermitage, 7:30.

Sweet post...

I went to Freeman, my grandmother went to TJ. I loved going to TJ to play them. Thomas Meredith and KW were tough to beat back then. Great memories......
