Another game Brandon hits a late game three (or in tonight's game, twice) which pulls us off the cusp of defeat. And seemingly another effort largely unnoticed by the Ram faithful. Joey's got about 16 different threads supporting his scoring output tonight. And good for Joey. However it's far beyond time to recognize what Brandon's meant o this team's success.
A nice little runner ended Brandon's first half, but he was just getting started. Twice tonight within the last few minutes of the game, Bee hit a dagger of a three to pull us from behind and into the lead. He did the very same against Rhode Island and Richmond. And beyond that, he's getting Brad's late game minutes and Brad's late game shot attempts. Simply stated, Brandon is morphing into what Jamaal Schuler became for us as a junior: The late game 3 point assassin.
And beyond his success as a shooter, he's getting it done on the defensive end. Brandon crated three turnovers in a span of less than 4 minutes at one point, and caused two other deflections knocking the ball out of bounds and forcing ECU to reset.
Brandon's always thrived off of two things: opportunity and confidence, and with increased opportunity that Shaka has begun to provide, his confidence has increased correspondingly. And what you're now seeing is a kid who wants to win at all costs and understands that committing to defense first is enough to keep him on the floor long enough to show what he's capable of offensively.
Don't look now, but the "Big Shots" this year are starting to come more frequently out of the hand of a guy who some once unfairly considered little more than an after-thought, and is now just beginning to show his star power. B-Rozz is legit. And he's fast evolving into "the guy" who gets the call to pull the trigger when a shot is needed in a tie game with 3 minutes to go.
Great game Brandon, keep it rolling Saturday!
