4. VCU

Nobody expected VCU to be as good as they have been this year. They lost star point guard Eric Maynor to the NBA and their head coach Anthony Grant to Alabama. VCU proved that their loss at Western Michigan was only a fluke by beating Oklahoma and then Nevada.

Key Wins: Oklahoma (Home), Nevada (Home)

Key Losses: Western Michigan (Road)

ODU is at 5, Mason is at 8, Northeastern is at 23.

gonzaga at 3...I would love to play them but obviously they are a long way away

U of R vs ODU should be a great game. My money is on U of R. I've seen them play twice and they look really good. I believe the game is a home game for U of R; hence, no home court advantage for either team!

figured this was a good thread for this...

CHN.net has a top 50 as well as their "Non-BCS Top 25"

this week we're 13th in the non-bcs listings, up from 22 the week before... we're outside of the over all top 50 (1-11 were within). We're the 2nd highest CAA team, behind only W&M who is at 11, and #49 over all. Richmond is 9th/46th. Nevada is non-bcs 20th, ODU is 17th.

how is W&M not ranked in the mid major top 25?

they are in CHN's... at #11

*edit-- but they're not even receiving any votes on the College Insider Midmajor poll... but if you look at some of the teams that ARE receiving votes, it becomes clear how bogus this poll is... Davidson? not this season. Some fairly questionable stuff in there.

I almost wonder if they are propping up the ranking of the team that won their tourny last season...

William and Mary has almost no basketball reputation to speak of...it will take longer for them to work themselves into these polls, whereas we have several years of TV exposure and press. I'm not sold on W&M yet. Beating an A-10 team and an unranked ACC team does not a world beater make. Let's see how Tony and the underathletic 3 ball shooters do in rugged CAA play.

Reputation, exposure whatever the heck you wanna call it, Davidson's team this year belongs on no list. And the way W&M is playing they should at least be getting votes. People need to do their jobs.
