Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

He came in the game last night with around 7 mins remaining when the Clippers were and had been down. He pretty much was scoring at will, playing against bench players who had seen some play already, his legs were fresh, a few nice floaters/jumpshots. One nice three. Drew a foul. Nice assists. They could be using him as a rotation player. They chose not to, and I don't just blame Ty. The front office wants their $$$$$ players to be heroes in there to justify the salaries and ticket expense. I understand that. But that loss wasn't on the players. It was on them being overplayed as decided by coaches and the upper levels. So enjoy the loss. If they lose, well, then they lose. Learn how to use the 2nd and 3rd pieces to balance out play and keep starters legs fresh. Funny thing is, during the game I got a couple of texts from two different friends who know we're watching and I know they are too.. all of us saying the same darn thing.
Doing this keeps developing players down, and puts the future of the league in peril.
Being game 5 teams are 2-2, that loss gave them statistically an 18% chance of pulling off making it further in the playoffs. Their devout fans are pissssed. And their fans are calling for Ty's head today.

Sorta, fans come to see Harden and Westbrook. Bones, not so much. We all know and love Bones, but as NBA star power, he is not close to their league. I would hate to try and make it in the NBA.
People did not always come to see Harden and Westbrook, they got a chance as young players too. People will come to see bones play, who wouldn't, the guy is simply fun to watch (frankly more fun to watch than Harden at this point in their careers). Clippers fans seem to be catching on to that.

So is the owner after the last game.

Look I want to see Bones play too.

But it's not a Clippers thing. NBA teams almost all SHORTEN their rotations in the playoffs. The Knicks played just 7 guys last night!

And you assert that the "front office wants their $$$$$ players to be heroes in there to justify the salaries and ticket expense." Come on, man. In the playoffs? If the coach thought Bones could help them win a game, he would be playing. Period.

Let's hope he gets in there in tonight's game and shows what he can do.

Down by 10, again, and looking like the same thing as the last game. Bones can score. They know this.

One thing's true, they sure as heck need an energy fix, and scoring to help these droughts losing games for them.

Agreed. They tie it or get it close and then go cold and let Dallas go on a run.
Kat's sitting here saying it takes fresh legs. Speed. When Clippers can muster it they tighten the score, but can't do that with tired arsed players.

I get LAC went all in with PG, Kawhi, Westbrook and Harden and want to play the experienced guys in the playoffs. But at some point if that isn’t working, especially in the playoffs, get a spark. They saw what Bones could do the last week of the regular season. He can bring the energy. You’re 1 quarter away from being eliminated and your stars aren’t getting it done; put in Bones!

Yes I know that is a homer take but darn, let the man play!

Einstein had a clear take on insanity. The playoff strategy we're seeing perfectly befits his definition of insanity. So does the fan's and front office's take on Coach Ty.

Clippers suck
Pretty much although at one point in the season they were rolling.

Since Ham was fired the media has been mentioning Lue and how the Clippers need to give him a raise. In a do or die game when he decided to play 7 heavy minutes he excluded Westbrook and inserted Tucker and Powell. I do not quite get the Mann love either but I have a hard time watching that team. It will be interesting to watch what happens to that team in the offseason.

will be interesting if the Clippers decide to blow it up in the offseason - PG 13 has a player option near $49 million to decide on- Harden is UFA with a salary demand that will probably have few takers because of cap issues with teams that can use him and then a group with cap space that will have Limited interest in him

Powell and Mann are under contract thoguh 24-25 so unlikely (though possible) they get moved - Bones too under contract and unlikely he moves at his favorable cap #

Westbrook has a player option in 4-5 million range for 24-25 but look for him to want more money and a potential bigger role with either Clips or another team (to me he is the guy standing in the way of Bones getting more meaningful run in the 24-25 season)

Mann is sort of enigma with the Clips - they seem to want to play him because he plays D and doesn't need the ball on O - he has been paid in 10 million range for awhile and that is pretty much what he gets in 24-25 around 11 millon guaranteed - I would love to see him traded
