Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

Clips will be in teardown mode soon. If Bones stays he'll have plenty of opportunities for PT, if not he'll be in a new situation (hopefully a good one).

His new situation, after this season, will probably be in Europe. Plenty guys have gone over and made it back though.

Kevin Porter Jr > Paul George in 2024.

Big win for the Clippers regardless of the moral uncertainty surrounding KP.

Not gonna happen Bones will not be in Europe after this year.

He will be on another NBA team. He is an NBA talent.

There are more guys that are good enough than there are spots to fill. If Bones goes another year waiving a towel all game it will be hard to get on with another team.

I am not saying he is not NBA talent, but guys at his level are a dime a dozen, as you say. If he was real NBA talent his career would be taking off instead of sputtering. Change of scenery will not change that. His 3pt shooting (which we seem to all ohh and ahh over), last year was a little over 32%. I doubt that even gets him in the top 150 in the league. Heck, Toppin shoots 40%. He's 169 lbs soaking wet and is poor defensively. Also, that stunt in Denver did not win him any congeniality points. I wish him the best, heck of a player, but the NBA is a tough spot for players of his caliber.

Y’all are rough. Bones is one of the fastest guys in the league with the ball. Sounds like Westbrook might go to the Nuggets. I bet he gets playing time this year. Hope he takes advantage of it if he gets the chance.

But aside from winning A-10 POY, helping get us to a conference tournament final and an NCAA bid, and to my knowledge always making time for fans both during and after his college career, what'd that bum one trick pony ever do for us?

He also performed at a high level when he was actually getting minutes in Denver. He definitely had some growing to do, but the coach owned a piece of that too. It's hard to show much when you are not playing much, and getting sporadic minutes when you do.

But the league waits for no man, and there are always new guys coming in behind you. Very big year for Bones for sure

With KPJ coming in I do worry that the PT might not be there. I believe in Bones but the situation may not lead to him getting a chance.

I am not good with initials. Bones is up for a possible extension by July 6th I think. If he does not get one he might be on the move.

Kevin Porter Jr. Broke out in Houston but had a domestic violence charge and had to go reset in Europe.

Bones has a unique skill set (talent) that is in demand. Deep (and accurate) range, especially for a PG (starter or backup). Good playmaking skills too. 10ppg in 18mpg so far in his 3-yr career (36% from three). Toppin 8ppg in 17mpg (35% from three) thus far in his 4-yr career.

Opportunity (playing time/role) and coaching staff support is the key for Bones. Stuck behind Murray (Malone) and Harden (Lue) thus far.

Bones’ “per 48” stats are impressive. Solid 40/36/84 slash. He and his agent just need to find the right situation, that’s all.

He can have a prosperous/productive NBA career as a starting/backup PG (Top 60 PG) with his skill set.
