Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

Bones has a unique skill set (talent) that is in demand. Deep (and accurate) range, especially for a PG (starter or backup). Good playmaking skills too. 10ppg in 18mpg so far in his 3-yr career (36% from three). Toppin 8ppg in 17mpg (35% from three) thus far in his 4-yr career.

Opportunity (playing time/role) and coaching staff support is the key for Bones. Stuck behind Murray (Malone) and Harden (Lue) thus far.

Bones’ “per 48” stats are impressive. Solid 40/36/84 slash. He and his agent just need to find the right situation, that’s all.

He can have a prosperous/productive NBA career as a starting/backup PG (Top 60 PG) with his skill set.
I agree. I think someone is gonna give him minutes. The Clippers picked up Kris Dunn yesterday afternoon so I wonder if they are gonna deal Bones when they deal Westbrook.

That will be interesting. People have to remember the business side of the NBA. As the Clippers exercised option for both Bones and Westbrook, they both will make jsut over $4mil next year. Doesn't matter if the are with the clippers, another team, or even sitting at home. With PG leaving and the Clips not bringing in a superstar, they currently are only about $43 mil over the CAP whihc is as low as they have been in a few years. The question is what. is the Clippers plan. The just reupped fon Harden for another two and have Leonard , who cant stay healthy, for three years at the top of the financial food chain. Of the 4 or 5 players they have signed, no one makes them better in my opinion. The only difference between Dunn and Bones is Dunn is older and cheaper. While Dunn may be slightly better on assist, Bones is better on point production otherwise they are statistically interchangeable.

Bones is probably getting traded. Clippers signed Mo Bamba and he is taking the #5 jersey. Of course, he could change back to #3 since that number is now available.

I’d put money on this being a website glitch that the described scenario. Bones is also listed as 5 on the roster which is ignored to help create a story.

I think you are making it a little too simplistic. he was trade bait while with Nuggets and no takers but Clippers - rumored Clips would move him before trade date and nothing happened

bones does have range but % wise from deep he is at best average in NBA - can clearly make things happen with the ball in his hands but few teams seem willing to accept his below par man to man defense - saw no improvements this year on D but he was basically in the gulag on the clips bench for 2/3 of the year

i think we all want to see Bones get his 20+ minutes a game and succeed but right now it seems to be on him to show he can play D enough to not be a liability in Crunch Time

Westbrook just did a sign and trade ... headed to the Nuggets. Here's hoping this works out well for Bones.

Fun trivia: Russ has now been traded to Utah twice, having yet to play a single game with them.
