Maybe this will change, but no Bones about it, Clippers offense is offensively horrible.
39 first half points.

at best Bones is the 12th man on the roster right now (Kawhi Leonard out for awhile) so they have played 10 tonight through 3 quarters and no run for BonesMaybe this will change, but no Bones about it, Clippers offense is offensively horrible.

His career 3pt% is .361. League average last year was .366. All his FG percentages are below league average, and all appear trending down. Huge liability on defense and it doesn’t seem to have gotten better. This is one of the most seat of the pants evaluations that I have ever read.
What metrics are you basing this assessment?
Bones is a former 1st round shooting guard that can shoot the deep three, he can handle the rock, and he can pass the ball. I have no idea about his attitude or if he is a “cancer” as some on this board so easily post. I dont know the young fella personally, I have never been in a locker room with him, and he seems like a nice kid based on his interviews and interaction with the media I have witnessed.
I guess haters will hate but can it least be based on some appropriate metrics or facts?
Edit: Please see this article that states why Bones has value and a team like the Spurs could pounce. 6’9. Wing Span helps on D, Shooting ability, ability to play both guard spots, former All rookie, averaged 12 plus points as a key player off the bench..
Low risk. You can get a former first rounder for an extremely low contract. If he has untapped potential and succeeds, great, you're a genius. If he's a bust or a problem, no big deal - buy out the contract or just write it off.His career 3pt% is .361. League average last year was .366. Fresh draft picks every year, take a chance on a 19/20 year old who may develop. Bring over someone from Europe you drafted 2 years ago. Reach into the second round hat and pull out a Vince Williams- who is better in every aspect of the game, and does it without drama. There are several Vinces every year and G-leaguers getting better. If you’re paid to make these decisions, why bother with Hyland at this stage?
If you remove opportunity cost, risk would be very low. But you only get to spin the wheel a couple times a year.Low risk. You can get a former first rounder for an extremely low contract. Of course this assumes the GM in question thinks Bones does have untapped potential, which I very much agree with. That might be a false premise at this point - opinions vary.
That's why they get paid the big bucks! Totally not because it's an almost entirely closed off good ol' boys network full of nepotism and failing upward. If you remove opportunity cost, risk would be very low. But you only get to spin the wheel a couple times a year.
I would have to look it up but I kind of remember the Nuggets extending his contract with a raise.any NBA contract experts here - my understanding is LA Clippers did not make a rookie contract extension offer to Bones - as such he is under contract for 24-25 at the rookie 1st round scale that he gets $4.16 million this season
come end of the season he is a restricted free agent that any team can make an offer and then Clippers have two days to match the offer
the offer would have to be at least equal to the minimum nba contract for a player with 4 years experience (currently around $2.3 million)
of course, he can be traded anytime this season to another team at the value of his existing contract $4.16, prorated of course
will be interesting for Bones and the sad part to me is how does Bones get to show his talents riding the bench in his current situation - clearly he needs a reset
rookie contract for a first rounder like Bones is set for four years by a scale of which the first two are guaranteed - the teams have deadlines to extend the contract for years 3 and 4 at a league set contract scale (Bones contracts were extended by Nuggets/Clippers for both year 3 and 4, club options)I would have to look it up but I kind of remember the Nuggets extending his contract with a raise.
A Poole party still beats a Diddy party. That's why they get paid the big bucks! Totally not because it's an almost entirely closed off good ol' boys network full of nepotism and failing upward.
AA you are correct sort of. Rookie contracts for 1st rounders are guaranteed for only the first 2 years. Bones signed a 4 year k initially with 2 years guaranteed. Based on his play, Denver later guaranteed his 3 and 4th years.I would have to look it up but I kind of remember the Nuggets extending his contract with a raise.
I watched some it it. OKC looked sooooo much more athletic than the Nuggets. Yay for Maynor! The Thunder are tough. The Nuggets line-up does not have great shooters. I never thought much of Porter Jr. and Murray just seems out of it since the Olympics. Not sure if anyone caught the Denver/OKC game last night, but their spacing around Jokic is dreadful, especially off the bench. It's pretty clear they let several of their championship role players like Caldwell-Pope go because ownership didn't want a bigger tax bill for going over the cap, but if that's the situation then it's even more important to retain as much rookie scale talent as possible. They sure looked like they could use someone off the bench at point who could create and score from the perimeter last night.
I like MPJ but he's a space case. Never been a Murray fan (Canadian Jordan Poole) and Booth is a smushed-faced moron.I watched some it it. OKC looked sooooo much more athletic than the Nuggets.
