Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

Went to the Houston game. Bones was solid but w/out the studs, definitely Clippers lacking good options. BTW, the Intuit dome is the most amazing venue I’ve seen a game in. Unbelievable video and electro-gizmos. Food and drink best I’ve had, too. Do not visit soon after LA Rams football though. Traffic unreal.

My lady said she saw someone post in a FB group Bones was on the court, but online stats show he has not entered the game yet, so not sure what he's seen. But we're tuned in waiting for him to hit the court ( 🤞 ), I am seeing that since nugs starters entered the game the clippers went on a 12-0 run to take the lead. The Boos from the bugs fanbase should be extra loud tonight as they're most likely both drunk on crappy play vitriol, narrative (still) and buckets of mile high brew. But just gonna say from what I've seen so far... The bugs SUCK.

played 5 minutes missed both fg attempts from deep - Terrnce Mann (sg) is still out with injury so Bones got some minutes (probably because he played well the last time when he played )

edit has 8 minutes of run so far in second half with 7 points but Clippers are getting smoked

wow (PG13 isn't with the clips anymore and Kawhi will make them better , when he returns- both are on the downside of their all-star and maybe hall of fame careers for KL but still everyday NBA starters)

don't hold your breath about Bones being part of the rotation anytime soon, I just wish he woud be traded so he gets another chance to get meaningful minutes

Bones is only getting mnutes on this version of the Clippers if the two point guards ahead of him get injured, or Harden sits for load management or the team is in a blowout game (reality is the Clippers can pay anybody $2 million less to fill the role Bones finds himself in as the 11-13th player in the rotation.)

yeah he has been getting improved minutes but understand the context
Dec 3, backup guard Terrence Mann breaks the middle finger on his left hand (right hander) - Mann normally plays around 20 minutes a game - Bones gets 7 minutes that game vs Portland

dec 4. Bones gets Mann's minutes in 1st half (roughly 7 minutes) comes in with 1 minute to go in 1st quarter , subbed out 6 minutes of 2nd quarter - 4 minutes to go in 3rd quarter, bones reenters game with clippers down 39 points - he plays the remainder of the game as the Clippers play the bench the remainder of the game

dec 8, - Harden doesn't play (reported groin injury but more likely load management to give him over a week of rest) (Mann still out) Bones enters game to statrt 2nd quarter and plays really well. plays whole quarter. Bones reenter the game in third quarter with 4 to go and plays the remainder of the game since he has been playing well

dec 13 - Mann still out - Bones enters game with 2 minutes to go in 1st quarter and leaves in the 2nd quarter with 8 minutes to go- Bones reenters with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and plays the remainder of the game scoring 13 points during those 15 minutes - during 4th quarter Nuggets blow them out and lead extends to like 25 with 4-5 minutes to go and all starters are replaced -

as long as Mann remains out Bones will likely see minutes in the rotation in both halves as the point guard but not really handling the ball on the offensive end as what you envision as the true point guard - he will do some PNR (pick n roll ) but mostly spaces himeself on the wing or corner for passes to attempt 3s - a few drives to the rim also with varied success
in the first half he seems to get 5-8 minutes and in the second half the minutes are more situational so far

Kahwi's return within 2 weeks will add further changes to minute distributions - would not be surprising if the Clippers are doing a little showcasing Bones to move him before the trade deadline

The Clips are winning this year by playing defense (not Bones' strongsuit) and when the team is healthy Bones gets no run but who knows for sure whether this recent stretch will earn him permanent minutes in the rotation (I hope it does BUT....

Go Bones (to the East Coast please)

Haven't seen Clippers games in a bit but last night a bit frustrated watching Kevin Porter Jr throw up things that couldn't have gone in, one man wins the show seems like his way. Appears he's just intent on jacking up his stats, but most of what he was forcing wasn't happening at all. Bones first three was a surprising downhill handoff/pass from him to Bones. Clippers could have tightened that game up with some better shots via good passing/assists, could have just been one game but the 2nd unit doesn't appear have that with him in there. Shooters just were not being served when they were open in favor of ballhogging.

Yeah, watchin the game it was a lot of ball hogging. Surprisingly, Bones was playin more shared ball and distributing, but got no assists because of misses on wide open shots. When he called for the ball while open, no one passed to him. When he finally started being more selfish and aggressive getting points in the 4th quarter, the game was already over. Love Bones this year, but he’s on the wrong team.

Reminds me of Eric. Same kind of coaches.

Stayed up to see is Bones was getting some play tonight, kept it open in another tab until we finally caught a sight of him walking on court, brought it to the main screen and watched til the end (about 6 mins), some good shooting, excellent g play, some good assists. Good D. He helped increase the lead while in. Totally worth waiting! We still yearn to see him with a team where he won't be second/third string, he makes a real difference when he's out there.
