Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

Bones has been traded to the Hawks who've been trading away players for draft assets. So hopefully a much better opportunity for playing time

Kinda like this. Justin Tillman got some PT with the Hawks for the short time he was there. Hopefully Bones can finally live up to his full potential.

Hopefully Bones actually gets a shot at some minutes outside of blowouts.

He shouldn't be quite as buried in the lineup in Atlanta so this is his probably his best shot at good minutes since he was with the Nuggets.

We can all only hope..... BUT.... Between Trae Young, Terrance Mann (who he was already battling for playing time in LAC).... and Caris LeVert who ATL acquired.

Bones is still gonna have to hunt for minutes.

I think they move on from Young soon-ish.

I know he dressed and was available on the bench a couple of times but I don't believe Tillman ever checked into a NBA game.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but...

Bones appears on the Hawks' injury report for tonight's game against the Bucks and is listed as out because of "pending negotiations". However, the other players the Hawks just picked up are listed as questionable for the same reason. Also, the Hawks tweeted a welcome video that did not include Bones, nor have the Hawks acknowledged Bones on any social media.

The Hawks also did not assign him a number, which is a sign that he may be about to be waived. Bones notably deleted a tweet celebrating his trade to Atlanta.

If this is the end of the road Bones he had a good run and is still young enough to get on in Europe and compound his earnings.

Staying relevant at the top 10% of the NBA (which is the only "security") comes with a ton of pressure. I do hope he can stay as I think that's where his heart is. But if waived it's NOT the end of the road. Some foreign roads are friendlier right now anyway. They have pressure, too, but not like the NBA and their betting obsessed "fans" who can be much more fans of betting than they are the sport itself.
The road can take you places and the road doesn't always have to be riding on the pressure (and everything else) of the NBA.
Krispy is smiling making his dreams come true. Anyone else can, too.

My suspicions were correct:

Not a bad thing for bones. He was going nowhere in LAC, and Atlanta wasn’t really a good fit. I could see him landing on a team that needs a guy who can run the point and score off the bench.

Not going to get into the attitude stuff because I dont know him well enough to make that judgement and have no friends who can assist.

At the end of the day, he has earned a retirement. He had the opportunity to fund a 401k (140% match) that most of us can only dream of.
