Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

I hope he gets picked up quickly by a team that's not doing well this year and needs a PG. Could give him a chance to show his value, sitting deep on a bench on a winning team vs getting considerable minutes on a losing team could spark his career.

Why would you take someone in a trade, just to waive him the next day? Who pays out his contract?

NBA is all about expiring contracts and cap management. Every action is with the future in mind. You are either looking to sign talent to win in the playoffs, or taking on expiring big money to set up the future. For example, the Wizards aren’t paying Khris Middleton over 30 mil next year because they think he is still good. They did it to rid themselves of Kyle Kuzma’s even worse contract that still has two more years after 2025.

And yes, waiving team pays the contract unless that player is picked up.

Any update about Bones?

Can't find anything online about him working out or being signed after his waving.
