Can you put a link or something. I can't even read that....oops if I squint I can.

Oh, at game with Western Carolina just screams - fantastic, crowd pleaser, blockbuster, sellout type of game :|

Re: Bracket Buster 2010- RPI Rankings

ya know, when I saw that this season's schedule was the first one in a good while with no SoCon teams on it, I kinda figured that might get "fixed" by the Busters... not sure I would have ever guessed arriving at it by this route, or this high up the RPI ladder, but still

and yeah, there's still probably a fair amount of shifting ahead of us

Working on the formatting so that it is more readable. It is my work, so no link. Send any errors to me at listed e-mail address.

*edit* now it looks right again.... I'll be quiet now :geek:

Re: Bracket Buster 2010- RPI Rankings

No, you can't play another team in your conference in Bracketbuster.

Re: Bracket Buster 2010- RPI Rankings

Thanks Rick. Not a lot of big name teams on the away list, but W. Carolina is having a good season, and the travel wouldn't be too bad for the return game. We could end up being helped more by a W&M vs Butler game then our own game.

You cannot play any team that you have already played or will play in the same year. That would also apply to teams you already have scheduled for the next year, since you have a return game that has to be played. Also, I had a little inside info last year that they actually called the schools and asked if there were teams they preferred or wanted to avoid because of future schedules.

I'll try to get working on the conflict list next. I will try to have it with the next update, or by next weekend at the latest.

Re: Bracket Buster 2010- RPI Rankings

Out of the current top 9 away teams, VCU will not be paired against 4 of them (W&M, ODU, Nevada, WMU). I also doubt they would send Long Beach State to the east coast as they have already traveled to the east coast once this year to play I believe Duke. I think we need to hope for a Butler/ODU matchup and then a VCU/Siena matchup. Both would be great matchups for the CAA and good return games for next year.

I am sure the ESPN audience across the country is also dying to see William & Mary play Butler too

I've also heard a rumor that we may play Long Beach State next year. So that would be another strike.

Re: Bracket Buster 2010- RPI Rankings

At this point, it certainly looks like W&M would get Butler over ODU...but it would be cool for Gerald Lee to try and exorcise the demons of his freshman year when ODU fell to Butler in the first round in 2007. A shot at redemption perhaps.

The Siena fans obviously would like Butler and see that as the marquee matchup of the field, but their second choice by-and-large is VCU if that doesn't work out. That would be a nice game of two top mids with recent NCAA success. Of course, there's also the Melsahn Basabe recruitment saga that spices up the games as well. We'd get a name mid-major team at home where we are very tough to beat, and we'll get a significantly weaker Siena team (major players graduate this year) and a freshman Basabe to play against at Siena. A pretty good situation for us.

Either way, we'll likely slip several spots once we get into the thick of CAA play. I expect we should get a decent matchup though.

Re: Bracket Buster 2010- RPI Rankings

But all mid-majors have that problem. So everybody will slip some.

The CAA teams will do better I think. Our conference RPI and SOS is the best I've ever seen this late in the year. Remember, once all the OOC games are played, every CONFERENCE (including bigs) will see their SOS drift toward 0.5000. There is one winner and one loser of every game. So, since we are sitting at 0.5217, and rank as the 9th best conference considering OOC play, we should be in pretty good shape.

Teams will win and lose as well. So we just need to forget about everybody else and just win.

Western Carolina is not a sexy game, but there are no sexy bracket buster games this year. It's enough for me to have a good tune-up game at home, that will be a decent road trip next year. 7 hours to western carolina is a boring, long trip, but at least drivable.
