Loyola (IL) would make for a fun trip to Chicago...

We can save our Chicago trip for the first round of the NCAA tourney! First round of drinks are on me.

Wichita State or bust.

$5 says we play Akron.

Why are almost all the quality teams road teams again?

I'd like Wichita St. but we'll get screwed again. F BB!...however, a national TV game still doesn't hurt. Especially when we play GMU (ESPNU) and more than likely ODU on ESPN2. That could be 3 straight Nat. TV Games!

The potential of national exposure and potential of getting a high quality opponent is what almost requires us to sign up for bracket busters. It sucks but at least this way if the team plays well then VCU will play a quality opponent it might have not been able to schedule.

I'm pretty sure the CAA requires its teams to be in the BB. At least I think I remember hearing that years ago when some were complaining about the match ups. The BBs are generally bad for VCU. They get a team that doesn't make the Rams look good for the tourney and is just matched up with the Rams for viewers. It really sucked when the Rams played Akron and Nevada on the road and then got Akron at home only to be back on the road again this year.

If the conference is making us do it than it makes even more sense. They crave the national spot light that the BCS conference always gets and if they put all their eggs in the BB challenge they are more likely then not to come out with something good. The CAA always puts a team on national TV whether it be VCU/ODU/Mason/NE

It's easy to hate on the Bracket Buster from a grass-is-always-greener perspective if we're comparing it against idealized notions of what kind of game we might get instead of it... but are we really more likely to end up with a great replacement, or just another Hampton/Longwood/ECU type game?

We complained about Akron, but RPIwise they were still among the top third of our games... if we're going to complain, I say we complain less about the teams outside of our control, and more about the clunkers we actually play by choice
