Joe Lunardi updated his bracketology today. Has WM representing CAA as 12 seed. Doesn't even have us on the bubble. A-10 has 3 teams including UR as a 10 seed! Didn't we just beat them? We get no respect. I know this has been discussed at length, but I feel playing in the CAA is holding our program back. We have a great RPI now, but that will take a hit we start playing the bottom dwellers of the CAA. This make it difficult to earn an at large bid. Just my humble opinion.

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

there are two ways to everything: complain or do something about it. the caa is where we are and the truth is that the a-10 is about the only other conference that will take us without fb, and they won't with richmond already there. so let's have vcu lead a movement to build the conference up. let's make it a great conference respected year in and year out. let's demand each caa school schedules tough OOC EVERY year, including VCU. this will give us a chance to win more big games as a conference, which will bring us better recruits and more exposure. it may take time, but the path this conference is taking regarding basketball is going nowhere. let's lead the movement. look at how ODU has helped the CAA on the women's side. some believe that the league has caught up and they are not wrong. but ODU's standards were so high that it forced everyone to think bigger. now look at the CAA in women's side...multi-bid league. let's set our standards high (as we have been doing) and let the CAA think big like us to keep up. that's the way to build a conference...not complaining that the caa is not good enough. creatio ex nihilo

Call me a dreamer, but all the big east schools don't have fb. I think we have to potential to compete with most of the big east schools. Imagine the sudden impact on the fan base if by some miracle VCU was invited into the BE. Waiting lists for tickets..The support and donors would be there. But maybe I'm just blinded by my love for VCU basketball.

Well, honestly, this is what you get for looking at bracketology 8 games into the season! Even in the pre-season almost anyone can pick 25 teams that are going to make it - - take a safe 5-6 from the ACC, take 8-9 from the Big East, take 4-5 from the Big 12....and you are at 20 or so. To try to go beyond that at this point is ludicrous - - to pay attention to it and worry about it is even sillier. My two cents...no offense intended. I am Rambunctious after all.

VCU must not only get into NCAA tourny, but get to sweet 16...or elite 8, to get the respect it deserves. Just keep winning, only good things happen when you win.

Agreed...

Gonzaga has won 9 straight conference titles and has been to the NCAA tourney for 11 straight years. They've been to 5 Sweet 16s, and an Elite 8 in 11 seasons). Honestly, it will take something similar for VCU to be considered a "power team". We need to perform BETTER than we have been doing for a long time and then there will be some accrual of "power team" respect for us. Look at GMU...sure everyone talks about their Final Four from time to time but I think they would get more respect if they had traded that Final Four in for 4 Sweet 16s in 5-6 years.

Me, neither!

...that's the difference between a fluke and a "power team".

Consistency is key. Keep winning and building upon the previous year.

The biggest problem I have with this is the seeding. What has Richmond done to earn a 10 seed that W&M has not? I am not a fan of the CAA tourney winner getting stuck in an 11-13 seed no matter what.

Richmond is in a better conference with a better name two BCS wins on the year

They have not played any conference games yet though. W&M beat Wake Forrest at Wake as well as Richmond. They also beat VCU who Richmond lost to. I don't see how you can put Richmond at a 10 and W&M at 12.
